A new set of door module updates showed up on Saturday in FDRS (Sept 24). After updating I noticed some differences in door operation:
  1. The door presenters no longer actuate when opening the doors from inside of the vehicle. They only actuate when the doors are opened from the outside now.
  2. The presenters now have a softer stop at the end of the stroke. The last bit of travel is now much slower than before.
If I had to guess, these changes might have been made to reduce wear and tear on the door presenters. I've seen a couple failures, and they aren't easy to replace. The door panel, glass, and window regulator has to be removed from the door to access them. Making them operate from the outside only would reduce wear by 50%, and they're not really necessary when getting out of the car. The slower travel means the presenter may not need to actuate a full stroke every time since you will typically be pulling the door open before it's completely extended.

Overall I don't really mind the changes, most people probably won't even notice.

I do wish the mach had the presenter button on the inside like the Lincoln aviator and the model 3.

Maybe I just didn't notice, but I do not think my 2021 job 2 MME has ever used the door presenters when opening from the inside of the car.

Meh, I like the levers. They're a throwback to the old-school Mustangs that had the release levers in the armrests. It's easy to find in a panic situation, and there's no confusion over which mechanism to use like on a Tesla. Pressing a little button feels chintzy compared to a nice-feeling mechanism.

I think it pushed it open a little bit before, maybe not as far as outside access. But now it's just the latch popping when you pull the inside handles.

Good move. No sense running the presenter motors when they aren't needed.

In the Lincoln it's intuitive. I do like that all four doors on the Tesla have manual release in addition to the well placed button. One think which also makes me want it is this. In the Tesla every single time u use the manual release a warning goes off telling you that you used the manual release instead of the button which will eventual reduce the life of the presenter

Since the interior door release lever no longer activates the presenter, it won’t wear the presenter every time the door is opened from the inside. 😊🐩

Now I just need to scrape the kibble together in order to get a Mongoose Plus. 😰🐩

Probably not 50% (e.g. for people like me who use the back to stow things more often than to haul humans, or for people with small kids who don't often open the door on their own), but definitely still a smart move.

button my ass. there should be no dependency on an electric signal to open a door from the inside because an emergency or a power failure would trap you inside, like the f..g tesla would. there should also be no fallback to manual mode that somebody has to learn before entering a f...g tesla.

When are they going to allow for doors to be opened from the center screen?

Tesla has manual release.... And the button. Aviator has emergency release lever as well.

Any idea if this will be an OTA update, at some point in time? Bill
