Some of you already have this and it has been rolling out to the Mach-E recently. It's an easy way to record & send a voice memo in your Mach-E to give feedback (good & bad) about the car. I got to interview one of the engineers behind the feature and did a quick demo. Take a look and then go try it out today!

I've been using prior iterations of this record feedback function for a long time.

My car doesn't have it in the app drawer yet. (It's currently in settings > general > record feedback.) I've sent A LOT of feedback!

One possible improvement would be for the feedback system to provide me some sort of acknowledgement that the feedback actually got uploaded to Ford. For example, if they sent me a thank you email, then I'd know the feedback was successfully transmitted.

I think I'll be sending them a voice memo with this idea today. ;)

This is actually an old feature that was in settings but good they are making it an app now. How do you have access to Ford engineers?

Tapping into the app tray, or even worse deeper into settings, is not "easy" when recording bugs while driving. It used to be that I could record feedback by long-pressing the top ribbon of the home screen. Now that was easy, but no more.

This long touch approach wasn't meant for broad audiences, though. For instance, it didn't pause your music/podcasts while you were recording. (Thus adding two more taps.) And I don't think it had a cancel option.

Anyway, the current system I use is four taps (settings > general > record feedback > record) and the one @Mach-E VLOG demonstrated is only three taps so I'll take that as a win. :)

Not to be overly negative, but why do you think it is that Ford can release new features like this, but...
  • we still can't permanently disable interior alarm motion sensors
  • we still have to tap into "settings" to open our trunk
  • 2021s still cannot electronically open their frunks (without DIY software or a dealership fee)
  • the app tray is still accessed by tapping a clipart house icon
  • CarPlay still has a confusingly redundant tile and top ribbon icon
  • tapping max defrost a second time doesn't turn it off
  • the car still remote starts into Guest profile
  • radio presets still disappear
  • PAAK performance seems to be getting worse
Most of these are relatively small gripes, to be sure, but they also shouldn't be hard to fix? Maybe Ford really cannot fix them? Maybe Ford just doesn't care? Maybe I'll start using the feedback feature with more regularity!

What kind of feedback are you all sending?
Also, what info does the car send with the feedback? A snapshot of the car (systems status, speed, temps, etc)? Historical info?

I've mainly used it for bug reports. I try to submit them as soon as I can after experiencing a bug such as after a sync crash or unexpected profile change or drive mode change. The sooner the better, in case logs are flooding and aging out. (I don't know how much history it's uploading.)

Patrick's video helped me realize I could use it for actual feature suggestions and praise, so I'll try to remember to start using it for those things, too.

I watched the video (mindblowing concept, I know, like reading the manual!) It does pull a snapshot of the data logs.

That could be a powerful system, might make up some ground on Tesla's data advantage.

@Mach-E VLOG At 8:24 when you are describing the 1-Pedal mode shutoff, it sounds like Jason grunts maybe in surprise. What was his reaction to you mentioning that? It sounds like he almost did a spit take.

I provided limitations with the navigation system not always stating which side of road my destination is located. Sometimes it does other times not.
I submitted that the cabin air recycle and 1-pd mode should be buttons on the main screen rather than needing to navigate several layers.

I used this feature just a month ago to record a bug I’ve been having with wired CarPlay.

Just curious: anyone experience bits of audio crackling when listening to music with CarPlay over USB? I’ve tried different iPhones, cables, USB ports and toggling different sound settings in the car, but I always get very short bursts of audio crackling every 30s to 1 minute or so. The bursts themselves only last less than half a second each. Really love the B&O sound system in this car, much better than the Bose in my last car, but the crackling is a bit annoying when listening to ambient music. Of course it’s not very noticeable in more aggressive music such as hard rock/metal, but for more subtle, cinematic/emotional pieces of music, it’s a bit distracting. Anyone experience something similar, or is it something specific to my car? If it’s the latter, would it be something the dealer can fix? This does not occur at all over wireless CarPlay, playback is flawless there. It only happens when wired.

I submitted the report using the feedback feature, and am curious if anyone has experienced something similar.
