Nice.
I don’t know if this a fair method for keeping a world record. The avg speed was 23mph. I don’t know if the record keeper has a minimum speed. I wonder if they could have gone longer at slower speeds.

I wonder how something like the Hummer EV would do at that speed. It has a 200kWh (roughly) battery, and while it's heavier by quite a bit, once at speed the weight isn't a huge issue for EVs as long as you aren't going uphill. It's usually down to aero. But at 24 MPH, even that shouldn't be a big problem.

I'm a little sad there doesn't seem to be any mention of the conditions or route or other detail. They gave some locations, sure. But was it all one consistent drive for 24 hours? Did they stop anywhere? What was the mix of speeds?

I clicked through and basically just ended up at Bridgestone ad for the record that was just as light on detail.

Interesting to see what is “possible”.

Think to self, though, in my practical world this is about as useless to my life as a chocolate coffee pot?

We probably all could have guessed something like this was“possible”, no radio, no heating, no aircon, pushing it uphill, freewheeling downhill, farting backwards out the window for additional propulsion and with teams of engineers in how many ICE vehicles I’d like to know.

They earned their badge of honour, though, so well done to them!

Now go and stick half a Tonne of tools in it, drive your 500+ miles up over the Cumbrian hills to Glasgow & back with nobody feeding and pampering you, do a job of work as you go and see what you get - a very competent 2.9miles/kWh I think they’ll find is the answer????

Driving along at c25mph on dual carriageways & Motorways in the UK would require a flashing amber lamp on the roof ? now that’d knock 0.2 of a mile off your miles/kWh rating????

Otherwise some hairy assed truck driver would come upon you and stuff your Stang so hard in the rear as dawdles along that the last thing to go through your mind would be your rear wiper spindle?

Just a bit of harmless fun, trolls need not reply???

Only one way to find out. Let us know your results.

There's a law of diminishing returns when it comes to reducing speed. When you get below highway speeds then yes, you do considerably better due to reduced drag but you eventually reach a place where those drag losses are minimal anyway.

They were probably driving around the Air Force Base all night?

I have a Hummer and the issue is the wide off-road tires, there is a lot of rolling friction. The Silverado EV would better for this due to the skinnier tires and it would likely blow away this record.

That sounds just like driving on interstate highways in the Virginia Colony?

Guiness records were never about actually being the best at anything.

They usually involved getting drunk and then starting a sentence with, “HEY EVERYBODY look what I can do!!”

This isn’t one of those records I have any interest in watching happen.

I would guess a Lucid Air will soon destroy this record. They have 516 miles on the EPA test. Could probably hit 700+ at those speeds.
