Hello! I'm a 2021 Mach-e4x owner with about 30,000 miles on the clock, still under full warranty. I've been mostly happy with my ownership experience so far.
About a few months ago, one morning I noticed a very loud "Creak" coming from the rear passenger wheel area. It came out of nowhere. The creak happens when I start to move forward or backward, accelerate or decelerate- basically anytime the rear suspension has less downforce or more due to momentum changes. It is very loud. The sound is heard inside and outside- and every time I pull away or up to a location or stop light the loudest "creaaaaak" comes from the back of this otherwise very nice car.
I only drive using one pedal driving, so the brakes are not engaged when this issue happens. The car can be rolling and I start going faster and it will happen.
I brought it to my local Ford dealership who kept it overnight. They "narrowed it down to the brakes," saying that corrosion on them is causing this creaking sound. I've always worked on my own cars, whether it was oil changes, tires/wheels, brakes, wiring, etc- I know my way around a car. I asked the lead tech why they thought it was a brake issue when it's clearly a suspension issue and the brakes don't engage for the problem- and I was told "that's what we're going with, we'll start there."
I find it fairly annoying and almost dishonest to the customer that my vehicle, still under warranty, has this extremely loud suspension creak, and the one place that we are going to start to try to fix it is a $700 fix out of my pocket for a part my car doesn't need. I've gone to this dealer and usually had a good experience, and I prefer going there as they offer loaner cars while the car is in the shop.
I am hoping to get assistance from Ford Corporate @Ford Motor Company , as well as other people who have had similar issues. This car is a new product by Ford, and these issues that arise shouldn't be passed onto the consumer, especially when the issue isn't related to the fix. I have attached a video showing the issue from different angles.
Anyone with similar stories or fixes- I'd be grateful to hear from you.
Thanks!
