It is a simple way for dealerships to get revenue. Recalls have been done OTA prior.

Following up on my previous comments, my dealer (Ford of Kirkland) picked up my car yesterday at 830AM for recall service, and returned it around 2:30PM. I was not going to be home and told them where to leave the key but my wife pulled in seconds after they arrived. Initially, the "valet" suggested 10K mile service (car is 13 months old, but only about 6200 miles). I figured, sure, let them rotate the tires. But they didn't do that service, just the complimentary inspection, so no charges. 0.5 hours billed to Ford for the recall updates. owner dot ford dot com updated so no open items.

Valet did ask about seat buckle but I have never had that issue, so no action there.

Lots of communication with the service people, which is a HUGE improvement from years past.

This s should be in bold and in italics. Dealers hate OTA fixes like we’ve had before because it takes away guaranteed income for an easy fix. The only time dealers hate recalls is when it takes time and, more importantly, proper time management.

I called my dealer to schedule the appointment for this software update. They informed me that they would come to my home. The technician arrived at the scheduled time, I gave him the key and about 20 minutes later he was done. He indicated the update was too big for over the air.
Was there any evidence of the recall actually being completed? Mine was allegedly done but there is no reference to the update in either the update screen in Sync or in my FordPass app and the recall is still listed as open.

Recalls can take up to one month to disappear from FordPass after the work is done, dependent on when the dealer completes their warranty paperwork. It is not instant.

If you want to check if you have the update, measure the system voltage with a voltmeter immediately after shutting the car off. It should be 14+ volts.

Neither Sync nor FordPass will show dealer module updates...

Mobile Service came to my house on Monday, Oct 6 to do the software update for the recall. The tech was very friendly and knowledgeable. He did not put a charger on the 12V battery. The procedure took about 20 minutes, and since I had never seen an FDRS update or an OBD II scanner in use before, the tech was happy to explain the process to me. There were no issues afterwards, and the recall was updated in Ford Pass 2 days later. All in all, the Mobile Service experience was great!

This update also fixed the problem with trunk not opening by pushing the black button. I have had no problems since they did the update.

I also have same error showing since September. I had Ford Mobile tech at my house last August to complete the recall. I had them out again in December to clear this error and confirm the recall was done. The tech could not clear the error and assured me it is well.
