Production will probably be delayed.

I just finished reading a news story that UAW is pressing the auto manufacturers to shut down assembly lines (and will probably want those factory workers to keep getting paid.) I know that this is for the USA, but since a fair proportion of the parts for the Mach E come from US would not be surprised to see the Mach E production delayed by at least six months...??. Also seeing where new car sales are plummeting with the COVID 19 virus spreading. We may all be waiting a while to get our Mach E.....providing we survive the pandemic. I guess I am in a high risk category so my wife and I have holed up in our home for the foreseeable future.

Unless you telehealth, your employer needs you at work.

Depends on the industry. Many of them are coming to a standstill, while many others will keep going. Anyone in restaurant, hotel, casino, airline, sports, entertainment, school, or any other operation that involves public gatherings will probably be sitting at home for a while. And that's just a partial list.

Ford will be fine through all of this, will just set them back how ever many weeks they need to shut down. They have enough cash in the bank to operate for a year safely at a complete loss.

I'm hoping for the best. I believe the pandemic is being hyped by the media and the politicians for election year advantage. Let us be safe and see what happens.
Hyped for the election year? That's an extraordinary claim and I'm fascinated by the mental road one must travel to reach that conclusion.

Please explain what Switzerland declaring what amounts to a national emergency and shutting down public life has to do with the American election?

Are you implying that the swamped hospitals and dying patients in Italian hospitals are there merely to influence the latest presidential candidate debate held in front of no audience?

The Chinese media is state controlled and isn't driven by clickbait advertising. Explain why if this is so media hyped that the outbreak was initially tightly censored after its initial reporting? Why were the doctors who tried to warn everyone being jailed? Was that for the hype too?

This is an international medical emergency unlike anything any of us have ever experienced. Please don't inject American politics into something that is so obviously apolitical and cares nothing for international borders or party affiliation.

The death rate of the Corona Virus is 2%, and the number is only that high/skewed for people over 70 years old where the death rate is 15%. If anything, there should be a public quarantine if you are over a certain age. Majority of people who get the Virus don't even develop pneumonia and have very mild symptoms, like the common cold.

There have been much worse virus's in the world that haven't brought near the amount of attention as this one. Just look at the H1N1 virus for example.

The mass hysteria taking place is completely politicized with the news now needing ratings extremely bad. This virus goes to show how easily manipulated the general population can be. You're more likely to die in a car accident tomorrow than die of the COVID-19. Does that mean you should stop going to work?

Nothing to worry about. If you're retired, just stay home. Over the age of 70? Just stay home. Lol.

I don't really think the Mustang Mach-E forum is the place for this discussion. But here we are.

The spanish flu of 1919 was also a mere 3% fatality rate. However, since it was highly infectious a third or more of the world population caught it - roughly 1.5 billion people. 1.5billion * .03 = 50 million. That was before ubiquitous air travel.

The coronavirus also seems to be highly infectious. Assuming there was no intervention in a globally connected economy and only 10% of the world's 7.5 billion people contract the disease at a 2% fatality rate, that would leave 750 million * .02 = 15 million. Since americans only care about america, that still leaves 700,000 americans dead - almost twice the number killed in world war 2.

Caution in preventing the spread seems warranted.

The fatality rate for the elderly is 15%. If you are under the age of 60, it's pretty much impossible for you to die from COVID-19 virus. Elderly need to stay inside their home, no one else.

The people that do die from it already have health complications and thus where the .2%-3% come from. If you are a healthy individual, with no major health conditions the Virus is no worse than the common cold.

A quick fact I want to point out is that 1 in every 100 people are psychopaths. 1% of our population has a serious mental condition, it can be mild or it can be clinical. Just imagine with that alone, how many people out of 100 have some sort of auto-immune disease or health issue no matter what age.

The elderly always have a high risk of dieing from the Flu and is also why there are 30,000+ deaths each year in the USA from the flu virus. Majority of those are older adults that contract pneumonia. This is no different than the flu, except the elderly don't have a vaccine.

A Virus can not be treated with any medications, and a vaccine only trains your body to fight a certain strain of the virus.

If you have a weak immune system, or an auto immune disease, you're pretty much living life trying to stay away from sick people and areas of mass gatherings anyway.

A more appropriate response would have been to identify the highest priority individuals(elderly, auto immune disease patients), ensure they stay quarantined, and let the rest of America continue until a vaccine is developed. No need to quarantine our entire economy and bring it to a halt to where we are now discussing paying Americans $1000 a month.

Really silly the response this type of virus is bringing. We've lived through this many times before.

JFC. What's 2% of 50% of the US population?
Median Age in USA is 38 years of age, so that means .2% of people would die. 330,000,000 x .2% = 660,000 max if every single person got it.
