Is there any EV with a CUV+ size that is currently available at a similar price point that is meaningfully better than the 2021 Mach E overall? I haven’t seen it.

Is there any EV with a CUV+ size at any price point that is meaningfully better overall?

My criteria are size, looks (love the MME, the egg-shaped MY fails on this alone), range, charging speed, acceleration, interior materials, and software. What’s better than the 2021 is all or almost all of these criteria?
If you value looks (not generic looks), the benefit of 5 years of refinement, a great ride and comfortable interior (classy materials, simple elegance, buttons where you expect them), plenty of power, and CarPlay, at at a reasonable cost - there is no better than Mach-E.

Of course you could spend a whole lot more on an Audi or Porsche. The Caddy Optiq has a really really nice interior but is not as fun to drive and the exterior, while classy, is more generic SUV-ish with Caddy Art&Science design cues - so you would have to like that type of style (I owned the first of that style - a 2003 CTS and it is not my preferred taste). I love the curves, bulges, and lines of the Mach-E.

It’s just a little weird that with most other things, they’re clearly outdated in a year or two. Appliances, TVs, cameras, phones, PCs, etc. But when my kids ask me what car I’d get if money didn’t matter - and I still want an EV SUV - I really can’t come up with anything at any price point that is hands down better, without serious sacrifices in one area or another, than my five year old Mach E.

Just checking in.......

4 years and 43,627 miles later, still quite happy with car, no major issues to report. Car has been paid in full for a few months now and rolling the dice with no extended warranty.

Routine maintenance =
  • Original 12v was replaced (DIY) - 02/25
  • Cabin filter (DIY) - 05/25
  • OEM tires replaced at 42,150 miles. Went with 235/60/18 (instead of OEM size of 225/60/18) Sumitomo HTR A/S

Yep!

That's just about the size of it as I find, too!

it will be 5 yrs in April. 40K miles. Still with OEM tires. Replace 12v battery under warranty close to 3 yr mark. No major issues. I like all the bells and whistles in the original premiums. I charge at home. I like kick to open, Upgrades have made it better. I don't like that they have continued to remove stuff. I've had no problems without the heat pump and use the fronk. In looking around I have not found anything l like more. I also like the mix of real buttons and screen. Too many like the new iX3 with scroll wheels on the steering wheel that change functionality base on some circumstances is not interesting to me. I use all the buttons on the steering wheel. I harldly touch climate and voice allows me to change them. I go back and forth with android auto and the built in sync. I use blue cruise when not in heavy traffic. So until something comes along that really hits me I'm keeping it. Will need new tires soon. I usually buy a new car every 3 years but this one has made me happy to just keep it.

……and I checked with Glass’s Guide yesterday and the trade-in value increased by £2000 since I last checked a few months ago even with 121,500 miles on the clock!

Maybe the bells & whistles mean something, or good used stock is more in demand at the moment.

Not to derail my own thread, but I think I may have finally found an EV CUV that is hands-down better… the Cadillac Lyriq V Series Premium. For about $90k lol. But I might upgrade to a used one in a few years.

Ordered my 21 Mach E Premium extended range battery June of 2021. Car came in December of 2021. It now has 32,310 miles on it. Wife busts me all the time about keeping this car over 4 years. Never kept a car that long. All time record for me. Worked part time for the Ford dealership where I bought the car. Drivin a lot of different cars, but still love my Mach. Have extended warranty on it so it’s not going anywhere for at least a couple more years.

I picked up my premium, extended battery Mach E in June 2021 on my birthday. 42k miles, original everything. I live in Michigan and this is the first year that it was taken out in the snow. So I've been babying it. There have been no problems, no complaints. It has been fun to drive from day one. I use BC almost exclusively and one pedal. Although I've learned one pedal is squirrelly in the snow.
My grandson is twelve and I will probably pass it down to him. I guess that I am holding on til then.

I expect to change the 12V battery and get tires in the spring.
