The Bolt is quick, my 2020 is a 6 sec 0-60. But the Mach-e is in a whole other league. We love our bolt for errands, 2nd car, and all of that, but as an owner of each the mach-e is better in every other way except the manual pre-condition button.
My original comment was not about the performance or overall capability of the Mach E as compared to the Bolt. It was about the fact that GM decided to significantly upgrade the infotainment in the new 2026 models. Something Ford has failed to do with the Mach E.

The new Chevy Bolt has a better UI and navigation system than the current Mach E, and it is under 30K. All the GM vehicles also include a manual precondition button, but it is rarely needed. The new Bolt even out charges the standard range Mach E at a fast charger.
Yeah, this problem(bolt for sub $30k, new) has me debating replacing my FFE for a Bolt. Even though my wife said no GM.. I have a GMC truck incoming soon..

To add to the discussion from a 23 user that recently traded for a 25.

i verified preconditioning using my OBD2 on the 23. What can I look for on my 25 now that Ford has a lockdown on the Carscanner information.

thank all!
Does this mean you can trigger preconditioning via the ODB2?

No, one cannot trigger a preconditioning event. I was able to tell that preconditioning was taking place because the battery temperature was rising, and the PTC heater was at max wattage. My 2025 locks out the ability for my reader to present data to my scanner app.

Yeah, European vehicles handle the service differently.
I also think that’s just in general with EMEA markets, they can get away with stuff like that here but they’d get laughed at in EMEA markets for trying to paywall it. There’s just much more competition in EMEA markets compared to the US.

2025 model year and up cars have encrypted modules across pretty much the entire Ford lineup. It's a problem that the comma.ai community is running into as well

When your Connected Navigation trial ends, you'll only lose the ability to precondition with Connected Navigation. Since you won't be able to use Connected Navigation at that point, you can't precondition with it. That's all that line means.

En-Route Preconditioning with Apple Maps EV Routing in CarPlay or Google Maps EV Routing for Android Auto do not have dependencies on the Connected Navigation subscription.
my understanding was that all Mach-Es (2021-25) require the Connected Services subscription in order to precondition. Full stop. With that subscription, owners could precondition to a selected charger in either the native navigation system or in Google Maps via Android Auto.

This whole situation is exactly why my second EV is a Rivian. If we hadn't bought at peak prices in December 2022, I'd probably be trading the Mach-E in for an R2 right now.

I genuinely love the Mach-E, but Ford has its head firmly in the sand. $79/year for connected navigation and pre-conditioning? Absolute nonsense. I use Apple CarPlay anyway — the maps and directions are vastly superior — so if I ever actually need pre-conditioning, I'll grab a $8 one-month pass and call it a day.

BlueCruise is a similar story. Our included subscription runs through 2027, and I seriously doubt I'll renew it. Ford has dropped the price to $495/year from whatever it was a couple years ago, which tells you something — but it's still a tough sell when they couldn't even be bothered to include auto lane change on the '23. Another head-in-the-sand moment.

Announced by Ford - 2026 models can precondition with EV routing in Apple Maps in CarPlay now, not just Google Maps in Android Auto.

Any word on if/when this will come as an update to older models @Ford Motor Company? 🧐
Well Reconditioning got me until I realized this was just another preconditioning thread.
