I'm getting an update installed tonight. The notes specifically give credit to this group for helping to design it!

Ready to Install

IPC-25.9.405

This software update contains the following key changes:

Some customers have been experiencing a missing compass on the instrument cluster. As part of a change introduced in 2025. vour vehicle utilizes the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) as the primary source for GPS data. A slight adiustment to the cluster logic was required to restore the compass.

A special thank you to Mustang Mach-E Forum members for helping to identify this bug

We've improved the smoothness of the vehicle animations on vour instrument cluster during Lane Change Assist and In-Lane Repositioning. The batterv state-of-charge displav has also been adjusted to improve readability.

This sounds like it’s only for MY25+

I must have missed something. Can someone point me to the thread where it happened?

We don't need no stinking animations. We have centered speed. Plus kick to open. And the OG frunk. Don’t forget the OG frunk! ;)
Well, the OG OG frunk had that stupid divider to keep kids from getting into it because they couldn't get the internal emergency release to work. My '21 J2 has the proper OG frunk w/o the dividers.

Ford was actually quite capable of getting the button to function properly. The problem was that the mme’s emergency release wasn’t compliant with existing regulations at the time the car was first delivered. The new regulation became effective after the first vehicles were sold. Ford was always compliant with the new regulations. The divider was a stopgap measure to ensure compliance with regulations in existence at the time of the first deliveries.

I posted info about the NPRM proposed change sometime in 2020 but i really wouldn't recommend wading through 6 years of my posts.

On a related note, I was at an EV drive-in sometime in late 21 when a fellow mme owner noticed my frunk dividers had been removed. They were shocked and dismayed. They were adamant the car was unsafe without them and i needed to think of the children. I explained we didn’t have children and therefore don’t have grandchildren either. They then pivoted to “but its so handy!” I answered, “For what?” My divider slept with the fishes quite soon after I took delivery.

Huh, didn't know that. First and maybe only time the MME software has been ahead of the curve.

The frunk is for chillin’. The micro-frunk isn’t even fit for a Toy Poodle to chill in. 😰🐩

I was surprised/amused to see 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron owners have the same issue, but they don't have the emergency release button at all.

And also can help keep a dead 1500va UPS from smashing 4 dinners worth of Tika, garlic nann, NACS adapter, 15 to 20 c type alkaline batteries, and the occasional poodle in place. :bandit: Like to see ya try that in a 25+ lol
