Hello and goodbye! My lease expired and I chose not to pay the ridiculous residual to acquire it.

I switched to a Chevrolet 2026 Equinox EV RS. It much better suits my wife and mine aging bones and so far has been fun to drive, much quieter, smoother over the bumps and easier to enter.

There is a huge amount of knowledge in this forum that I will miss.

Thanks to all who responded quickly and expertly!

Model? Year? Residual?
I would also like to hear what price the residual is. My MME premium is up next December. (2027). Buy price is $26,400. I have 11k miles currently. While i know the newer ones are a better ride, I'm currently thinking that if the $26k is close to the correct value, I'm going to buy it.
The other concern I have, is that since it's a lease, I'd need to shell out a lot of $$ for a new car, with no trade in. Curious as to what others have done or are thinking.
Thanks!

I’m probably going to keep my 2022 GTPE when my Ford Options contract comes due this summer. Ford will refinance it at my original interest rate.

However, when my wife’s 2022 Premium RWD came due, we traded it in on a 2025 Premium AWD. She had put nearly 100K miles on her original MME, and we wanted to take advantage of the improvements over the past several years. Ford gave us a great discount and zero percent interest on the new car, so we’re happy!

I have the RS EQEV with 21" wheels. It sits a bit higher off the ground than non 21" versions. Also I should have said that it's easier to enter for my wife, who is shorter than I, and had to bend down to avoid hitting her head in the Mach-e. 😜

I can attest to that. When I was considering that or the blazer, the equinox was easy for my wife to get in compared to what we currently have which is a Nissan rogue. And I stopped one time there was a guy with one of the brand new model Y performance Tesla, and that was really easy for her to slide right into. They say that that’s a great car for older people, but I’m holding out till next year, I was gonna go ahead and get something this year, but I’m not gonna pay Nissan and have another car payment when I wouldn’t need to be driving it so I’m just gonna wait till my lease is up next year.

Interesting. I have always considered the EQ to be a pretty significant downgrade from the MME. But would be interested to hear a detailed comparison.
