MME vs Chevy Equinox EV

Well, it IS a door-buster special. Sort of like those $99 70” TVs you see at Walmart on Black Friday. Trust me - there will be a “gotcha”. Range, performance, reliability, quality, something. GM isn’t making and selling a volume EV as a loss leader.

Some of the reporters at the Detroit Auto Show are saying that Chevy won’t be taking preorders for the Equinox EV. Not sure how that’s going to work.

From GM Authority- Equinox EV 3RS caught testing. Now with 100% more Cylon! Supposedly production is starting Fall 2023 but this timeline seems overly optimistic given the Lyriq delays and complete lack of communication re: Blazer EV deliveries.

On FB, there was a dealer who was able to order demo Blazer EVs. I think there will be a trickle of Blazer/Equinox demos this summer but widespread deliveries probably won't happen until 2024.

A friend took delivery of his DE Lyriq last week. 15-16 month wait. It was late by 6+ months... probably more than the initial summer 2022 estimates. Non-DE Lyriqs were supposed to ship fall of 2022 also.

GM just can't scale up the Ultium platform fast enough. I'm certain the Blazer and Equinox EVs won't be built in any significant quantities until next year.

These 986 were built from Sept-Dec 2021 and sat in TN.

These DE were supposed to be delivered in the summer of 2022. I was supposed to get a RWD Lyriq in late fall or end of 2022. Hey, it's May 1st... and my order is now a MY24 and hasn't even been scheduled. I'm also a very early orderer and am in the top-5 or 10 in the list at my dealership.

This isn't like the Ford Bronco where they had too many orders and only could build 120K per year. GM can't even build 1000 per quarter. That's how many Tesla builds in a day in the US.

But some trims are perforated (Premium, GTPE, not sure about the GT). In hot days, ventilated front seats are a dang revelation.

Do it, you won’t regret it! I hear of people who want to get into an EV in the coming year, and the MME, at least to me, ticks all of the boxes. If you are intending to make the move to an EV, but thinking in two to three years, I would look at GM, but right now, nah.

Me too! I also doubt GM will be selling a $30k Equinox EV like they originally promised.

I canceled my Blazer EV reservation and have my sights set on a Mach-E GT.
