Got an invite from Ford (Lightning owner) with a pair of comp tix for the LA Auto Show yesterday and got to see some neat EVs that are out or coming out.
1. IONIQ 6 - very impressive exterior design - much better looking than the current Ioniq 5. Has a lot of "Porsche" cues. No contact allowed. Mid 2023 release slated.
2. VINFAST - manufacturer to consumer direct (same as Tesla model). VF8 and VF9 on display. Going to sweep Tesla under the rug with ALL options activated and available - no more upcharges / add ons. Deliveries start spring 2023. Currently they have 15,000 reservation holders - about 50% VF8 and the other half VF9.
Their battery subscription service is quite appealing for those that want a lower MSRP and a monthly subscription for the battery w/ unlimited miles w/ free replacements at 70% capacity during the lifetime of the vehicle - plus they will come to you, pick up, drop off a loaner and get the battery replaced & returned to you direct. If you do not opt for battery subscription, the cost will be higher (you own the battery), has a 10 year warranty, but requires you to drive to one of their brick and mortar stores service.
3. Chevy Blazer, Equinox and Silverado EV were on display but no contact allowed. Silverado deliveries start spring 2023.
4. Toyota BZ4X was impressive but also no contact allowed.
