Once again to put things in perspective, here's what Betsy McCaughey, Lt. Gov of N.Y. and Chairman of the Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths said:

“Every 1 percent hike in the unemployment rate will likely produce a 3.3 percent increase in drug-overdose deaths and a 0.99 percent increase in suicides, according to data from the National Bureau of Economic Research and the medical journal Lancet.”

Someone should do the math to compare that death rate with that of the virus. I don't have the current stats on OD deaths & suicides, but it shouldn't be too tough to find.
Another problem the virus is causing. We are just stuck with this sorrow at this
time. Drug OD's will never go away. See what they are spending their unemployment
on ? Either pay bills and buy food. NOT DRUGS !!

Here's an interesting clip to watch with Dan Crenshaw and Bill Maher. Dan has many facts at his disposal and it's fun to watch. The discussion on the virus, the travel ban and such begins at 4:40
Ken - Wow, haven't heard a lot from Dan Crenshaw, but he seemed like my type of guy. Knowledgeable, measured, not a bomb thrower, trying to keep things constructive and positive. Very impressed with that discussion.

Thanks for posting!

So let's be honest about this. The picture you chose to post was deliberate so as to make the 'Trump link' with what you felt was a disorderly demonstration violating proper distancing protocols,
No, not at all. I chose it because it showed the blatant disregard of social distancing, not because of what they were wearing.

Now, while we're being honest, how many Trump signs, MAGA hats, confederate or Live Free or Die flags, or other Nazi symbols did you have to scroll past to pick the ones you did? And I do find the vile use of Nazi symbology to be offensive and intentionally inflammatory. I'll bet the person who made the sign did too.

Yes yes yes we get it and do agree and we can't change the past. What is done
is done. You can make good posts here without Trump and the past. We all know
what who where why can't change it no need to talk about it. We gotta have our input
on current happenings . You know like : going out now and stupid protesters. :)

Yes, I really like him. I so enjoy when an intelligent individual confronts one of these late night 'entertainers'. To me, when they begin to hit the factual basis of their arguments, guys like Maher just seem to wither away...and he's one of the more reasonable ones. ;)

Our family has continued to frequent essential businesses and conduct essential business activities with others during this crisis, albeit using care and following social distancing guidelines as much as possible.

Would I be willing to go out into CROWDS? Not until there is adequate testing and reliable information showing the risk has been significantly reduced. Even then, I think it will be quite a while before I'd be willing to be shoulder-to-shoulder in a theater or auditorium with strangers. I think we'll have to go through a period where such venues change their seating to allow for social distancing. Even then, I think most of us will be wearing masks for quite a while.

I expect we'll be seeing social distancing in business activities for quite a while as businesses, especially smaller ones, open up. I'll plan on following proper protocols for social distancing and mask use and will probably limit my business to those who do the same.

Of course, there are now some in our society who've decided social distancing is infringing on their rights. That brings in another problem I will personally have with crowds or large businesses: I want to be able to trust the others around me are following proper protocols, Would I want to be shopping around the folks in this photo? Not on your life. The more we see crowded mob behavior like we saw during protests in a number of states in the last week, the longer it will be before I'll trust being in public venues.

Of course, this is exactly what makes America great. You get to decide what will keep you safe and what your priorities are. Others do the same. I'm guessing those people may be losing their businesses and livelihoods and so they think risking the disease is more important to them than staying home in isolation. You probably feel differently, but I LOVE the fact that they can make decisions for themselves and so can you.

Would you prefer that they do not have the right to decide what is important to them?

I will stand up for their right to conduct an orderly demonstration. However, they chose to intentionally violate social distancing and PPE. My concern is the next day they were walking the aisles of grocery stores or were delivering packages -- all after intentionally exposing themselves to potential infection from strangers. This comes right back to Sweetwater's question: would I want to conduct business with them or be out in crowds with them? Not worth the risk. Would I know which ones they were? No, and that's the scary part.
Of course it is your right to stay away from them or use the mitigation techniques to minimize your risk regardless of whether they have the virus or not. Again, everyone has to decide priorities in life. Just because you disagree with them doesn't make you better than them or them better than you. They just have different priorities.

Why must we denigrate those we disagree with? This country was built on liberty and individual rights and if we lose those rights, we lose the country. Let's respect our neighbor even if we disagree with their choices.

I really do not care if they protest. Good for them to have the courage to do so.
My bitchin is no PPE. Protest if you wish just protect the rest of us.

Sweetwater has it half right here: no PPE and no social distancing. Note the important part about what I wrote:

...would I want to conduct business with them or be out in crowds with them? Not worth the risk. Would I know which ones they were? No, and that's the scary part.
