Hey Pony peeps:
I got my Mach e, and while I love the way it drives, I’m finding the software to be a challenge. the Lane Keep feature does not work. I drifted into another lane and nothing. No audible warning, no vibrating steering wheel and no pull-back. Has anyone else had this problem? thanks.

Did you go to settings and specify that you want lane keeping on and the type of alert/reaction you want?

Yes, i set it to alert and assist (or whatever it’s called to actually move the wheel) and nothing. I changed the alert from normal and still nothing. ?

Make that normal to extreme.

Are you expecting the lane keep assist to warn you or the auto lane centering?

Lane keep assist to warn me and veer the car back into my lane.

Mine only works when I engage the cruise control (eg, no cruise, no lane centering).

Did you also turn it on? Do you see the car in the center of the instrument cluster with green lines on either side of it?

There are some limitations as to when it will work.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Lane assist not working 1616004926510

As @generaltso said you have to see the green bars to indicate the system is enabled and running.

Thanks. I did try that, too. I set it to Intelligent Cruise Control or something. No luck. Dealer said I have to go in for an upgrade only they can do. Takes about an hour.

It will not actually steer you back into the lane unless you are using lane centering, which also requires adaptive or intelligent cruise control being turned on. The "lane keeping" just vibrates the wheel as far as I have found and does not actually change the direction of the car.

If you have aid turned on it will steer you back into the lane. This is the same as all of Fords lane keeping since the early 2010's when they first started adding it to cars. Alert just vibrates when you hit the line, aid nudges the steering wheel so you don't cross the line.

@Smurf, do you see the two green lines showing up on the side of the car icon in the instrument cluster display while driving in the lane? Two grey lines when stopped?

Probably a silly question, but do you actually have lane assist on? Button on the steering wheel enables it. If you don't see the grey lines it isn't enabled. If you don't see the green lines while driving the car isn't picking the lane lines up.

That's true if you have it set to Alert only. If you also have it set to Aid, it will nudge you back into your lane.

Lane keeping will definitely steer you back into the lane. It won't bring you back to the center though. If you just have lane keep, that is where you can get the car bouncing back and forth from line to line if you let it keep "correcting" itself. This feature should work even if no cruise control is turned on.
