To be fair, the ME really has a more common starting price of $50,600. I doubt many here will be buying the base level unless heated seats, heated steering wheel, heated & electric folding mirrors, memory seats, glass roof, upgraded sound system and more doesn't mean much to them.

No, I specifically stated that was the #1 concern for me, made in China. After what they did to the world, trust me, I have no desire to fuel their economy. But you have to admit it looks like a very nice car. I'm just trying to be objective. ;)

Did I see that it is available late summer 2020?
According to insideEvs.com and CNET (as of a month ago), deliveries were scheduled for Europe in summer of 2020, and to US and China "shortly" after. However, Greencarreports stated last month that Polestar had confirmed to them that US deliveries are still on track for summer.

Yes a very nice looking car. But we will have many USA cars here in
the coming years soon. Why must we fund small business ? Because
we LOST so very much manufacturing to China. All their products are
disposal type. Inexpensive to buy but you end up buying same item
over and over as they fail. My tools in the Trade were alway American
made. They took the abuse and lasted for years. Plus if they broke take
them back and receive a new one no matter how old it was. We need
small business and more factories in the USA !!

So I just got off the phone with Polestar. I asked a few questions and got some interesting answers:

* Where can I see the Polestar? Polestar- We will have one location in the NY area where the car can be seen and test driven. We will have one on the west coast too, with other locations to follow.

* When can I see the car? Polestar- The car will be available for delivery in the U.S. this summer. You should be able to see the car in a few months.

* Is the $1,000 deposit refundable? Polestar- Yes, it is 100% refundable, no questions asked.

* Where can this car be serviced? That's my #1 concern in terms of purchasing the car? Polestar- In the NY area there will initially be one (1) location for servicing. It will be NOT serviced by Volvo.

So my initial concern turns out to be a very real concern. It will not be serviced by Volvo, and having one location for servicing, depending upon where you live, can be an absolute deal-breaker if you were otherwise interested.

* Where is this location in NY? Polestar- At this time we're not really sure, but it will exist within a couple of months.

Now it's hard to believe that if this location will be built/available in a couple of months that they don't have a site yet. With zoning & planning requirements a location should have been picked out some time ago.

* Will the dealer (location) take trades? Polestar- Yes, we will be taking trades.

* I had seen that only 500 cars were being built, is that true? Polestar- That's for the Polestar 1, the Polestar 2 will be produced in far greater quantities.

So there you have it, at least for the questions I asked and were concerning me. I must admit I'm impressed the more I read about the car and what it comes with. However the servicing is a very real concern as is its production location (for me).

Just as an aside, the gentleman I spoke with seemed to have a Swedish accent and I suspect from the connection that the call was indeed taken in Sweden.

My Mach E reservation is Premum AWD with space white exterior and light colored interior at $58300. It appears that Polestar will cost $59900+1200+4000=65100.

Additionally, for my personal taste, the overall height of Polestar 2 (58 in, 1.48m) is too low. In comparison, Mach E is 63 in and my current vehicle (C Max) is 64 in. I like tall cabin inside height, and used overall height as an approximation for comparison here given all three likely have similar ground clearance.
The $4000 is the "performance" upgrade. I didn't think that would be a requirement. Why did you add it into your cost structure?

Where will they be sold you ask. Ken just how many dealerships
have closed their doors in your area ? It won't be hard for them
to acquire one.

I think the $4000 is for the leather "light colored interior". The performance would be another $5000 on top of that.

Certainly a factor, especially these days. Thanks @Sweetwater.

Actually I'm not aware of any closed dealerships in my area on L.I. Either way though, I'm sure they know exactly where that location would be. If it happened to be in N.Y.C., that would be a non-starter for me. To travel into the city just to have the car serviced, is just not going to happen. So I'd need to know where this facility would be. Initially I doubt they'll be selling many cars with so few service facilities available. Unless you're lucky and live in close proximity to a service facility, it's not likely you'll buy it.

I can't believe what I am reading. I have posted with you for months.
We all were worried about USA economy. Yet you sit and type about
a wonderful EV from China ! What happened to the people I grew to
know ? You might as well go back and DELETE all your posts about how
concerned you are about our economy. You show you are not as to
praise this China EV. Or maybe Google how many USA factories closed
in the last 20 yrs.
