So for my zip code, (94571), within a 100 radius there are 100 plus Mace E’s available on the Ford Inventory Web site, or so you would believe.
Drilling dow a little further my interest is in a Racing Red Premium in any battery or motor configuration. So that 100 plus list is reduced to 17 cars.

Great - I have several to choose from - not so fast. None are available for sale as of Friday, April 2ed)! I spent most of the day using the web sites “I’m interested” button to sent inquiries to all of the listed dealers on the availability of that car. To their credit all got back to me in person within 24 hours with basically the same line that goes something like this - we are sorry we do not have that car in stock, or it’s a customer ordered car and not for sale. Under my breath I’m thinking then why is it on the Ford inventory web site, but I digress.

Some dealers had a few for sale that were not what I was looking for. One dealer had a Grabber Blue FE. When I said I was interested the conversation changed to a additional $4000 ADM and no X-plan. My offer of $5000 off, (basically removing the ADM and 1K for missing out on x-plan), come back with a flat “no”.

I have also learned to not mention what the ADM is and if they support x-plan. And for God’s sake never mention Mike Levine comments on ADM.

This would be upsetting if not for the fact I have two on order from last year, (due in late June), but as a retail buyer looking for a Mach E it’s just so frustrating.

They do it to check the interest level from potential clients and increasr their client base. When I was younger and I would read the for sale ads in the newspaper, looking for a used car the number of times that we would see something we liked, call the person, arrange an appointment, only to get there and car was gone. Its a very old sales tactic. And back then, me and my dad used to take public transportation to look at a car. Sometimes it would take a couple of hours. Now a days with internet, its easier for dealers to pull the same bs tactic.

Why would we expect dealer stock when reservations/orders are still being built?

Imagine the uproar if it was easy to buy off the lot while reservation holders are still waiting. We already see some of this frustration based on people picking up cancelled orders.

Xplan pricing doesn't result in that large of a discount. On a premium, for example, it's under $700.
The cars are in demand. There are no "stock" orders. Of course some dealers are going to seek adm. Not all do though.

This. It drums up business. People can be contacted if the order is refused and some people may want to order through the dealer. The cars are automatically populated to the dealer website. Most take them down after a time.

It hits $1K here in California - several dealer charge $400 - $600 for "doc" fees. X-plan caps it at $100.

This propetulates a false narrative for the customer. I'm fine with drumming up business, but not with "vaporware", (ala Tesla FSD BS.)

Kamuelaflyer : There are "stock orders". Checking the Ford website you will see several cars with the banner across the top of the description, (see below). There may be customer orders for the same car - but dealers are posting their "stock order" cars....

That's because the customer already canceled the order. Dealers cannot order a mach-e. None. Spend some doing some basic research here or the other forums first.

Oh so close.... Use the Tracker URL - https://www.macheforum.com/site/pages/tracker/

Put in the VIN - no customer name comes up for the VIN.... Its a stock order. It also shows "in production" so it's not even available yet, but it still shows up on Fords web site as available for sale.

The dealer ordered banner does not equate to stock.

It does provide useful information though as it tells you that they don't have it yet.

Is that what the banner is saying to a customer? It's shows up in a Ford .com inventory search! The person who is doing this search is convinced that the car is available! They call the dealer just to be disappointed that it's "fake news". What should the customer take away from this? Most of us on this board understand what's going on - but the average buyer is not that, (and I apologies in advance for saying this), savvy.

My dealer has two Selects on their website but they both have an "In Transit" banner on the listings. If you use the tracker they both say "In Production" with May end dates.

You may be able to get it accomplished. Wont be easy !! Many hours on the phone. Check 3 to 4 search engines for your beloved MACH-E. I have a Star White Awd. EB on order since
2-6-21 with no production date yet. I found the one I want at a nearby dealer to be delivered around 4-16. Customer who ordered it dosnt like that color. Go figure.!!! Could be mine. Another dealer down the street has one 5-1 that they ordered for stock. My name is on it. Time will Tell !!! IF all else fails I have one one order !!!!
