Walked out into the garage this morning and heard people talking. Coming from my MME. My infotainment screen and the radio was on. In my locked car. This always shuts off automatically when I turn off the car and open the door to exit, and I know it did that when I last drove the car last night. This morning, the infotainment is on all by itself.

So I open the door (I have to use my door sill passcode first just to unlock the door) and I tap the power button repeatedly on the infotainment screen. That does nothing.

So then I press the start button to put the car in accessory mode. And I get a message on the infotainment screen requesting my backup passcode even though I was trying to start the car.

I enter the passcode, and then turn off the car, and then open a door to exit and everything shuts off as normal.

Anybody experienced anything like this?

If you press where the power button for the infotainment is while it is turned off it will turn on and operate with the car off. It is possible it thought it was pressed and turned itself on. If you hit the power button it will turn completely off if the car is off.

I want to see the team that programmed this car's systems. Just a picture will do.

First question. Did you name your car Christine?

I definitely have not heard of this from anywhere else. I would be mindful as per @breeves002 above and note if it happens again.

Fortunately the impact on the battery was negligible. No idea when it turned on.

The Mach E will turn the DC DC converter on to keep the 12v from dying, and the radio/sync is at an extreme max 50w of power continuous consumption. It would take 20 hours approx (a little less with losses) to use 1kWh of energy. So even if you left it on overnight you maybe will see a 1% drop...maybe.

That video reminds me of Bill Ford asking the president of Ford "Who is this Edward Irvine and what does he do for us" back in the 90's when the Jaguar F1 team had him as their driver. Apparently, he asked if anybody made more money than him at Ford and got an answer he didn't like. I sure hope he has invested more time and interest in Ford performance products since then.

I'd feel more comfortable seeing a few more 50+ year old faces there. I can only hope that the programming team has the depth of knowledge and experience that you can't acquire in a classroom. Some old-timers who've lived though a dozen programming disasters and have the scars that allow them to shake their head slowly at the back of the room when someone says "wouldn't it be neat if it could...".
