My California Route 1 has a line item on the window sticker that says "pony projection lamp".

What is this, and how do I activate it? The dealer was unfamiliar with it and couldn't tell me.

It’s a puddle light and it works when you approach the vehicle with the fob. Sometimes it works with PAAK. Nothing to turn on. It just works.

It's the puddle light. One of my favorite things about mustangs in general.

Thanks. I've approached my car at night with the fob and didn't notice anything unusual at all. The car seemed totally inert until I pressed the door button. What should I be looking for?

When turning off the car, you usually see a popup to turn off motion sensor, select “No”.

Next time when you approach the car at night, it will welcome you with a pony

love my pony lights
That's pretty cool! So you're saying all you do is walk up to your car at night and this happens automatically? Nothing happens for me.

The mirrors have to be folded in as seen in the pic.

Ahh okay! I've seen that prompt - I didn't know what it was, so I ignored it. Once I make a selection, does it stay set or do I have to do this every time?

I still haven't gotten a 100% way to make her show up, pretty though when you do.

Seems to be upon approach with key (or working PaaK), at night, doors locked, motion sensor doesn't matter.

Also when you're smoking a joint 12 feet away from the vehicle and it finally shows itself while you're talking to your GF about never seeing it.

Well, it wasn’t just going to sit there and listen you bad mouth it to your GF. I don’t blame it all for doing what it did.

It's not completely reliable, but the three things are it needs to be dark, your mirrors need to be folded, and it has to sense you. The FOB works better than PAAK for that last one.

Your power side mirrors have to be in. Do you have them set to auto-fold?
