Hi All, First time poster here. I'm all ICE right now but very much want to go electric. I've done my research and I think the MME GT will be the electric car for me when they arrive. My fun car is a Z06, my winter car in an Audi RS5 and I have a Tahoe for hauling, family and road trips. In light of that, if I were to go electric, I would charge at home with a level 2 which would cover 98% of my trips, take the Tahoe on long trips and therefore not worry about range anxiety. If I ordered a MME GT I would trade in the Audi since it overlaps with that car. My hesitancy would be in a possible diminished fun factor. Obviously no one has driven the GT yet, but I'd like owner's input about the fun to drive aspect and compare it to the car it replaced.

as a Ford and Audi guy.....I'd trade in the Z06. The RS5 is an amazing vehicle.

It's more fun than my ZL1, which is more fun that the Z06, hence MME>ZL1>Z06. They're all different cars and you'll get all sorts of different opinions but you really can't compare ICE to Electric because they each have their +/-.

Read through these threads and see what people are saying and decide if an electric car works for you. Then, go test drive the ones people have compared (many times) in this forum. That's probably the best way to go about it.

Please give more detail about why you think the MME is more fun then the ZL1. In my case, I do have to compare ICE with electric because in that slot for me it will only be one or the other.

I agree, the RS5 is an amazing car. That's why I'm hesitant to swap it for a MME GT. Selling the Z06 isn't an option as I track the car and neither the Audi or MME are track cars.

If you are keeping the Z06 and it is street legal, then you won't have the need for an ICE vehicle daily driver. The acceleration of my AWD MME is crazy and nothing like the ZL1. It's hard to compare the acceleration of an electric motor to the top end power of a Forced Induction engine, but you feel it so much more with an EV and it never gets old. Everyone thinks the ZL1 was so great, which is was, but it's not like I'm doing 150 on the way to work and you'll rarely ever use that amount of power (unless tracking the car like you do). The MME GT will probably be similar to the all wheel drive versions, so don't expect to be blown away when comparing the AWD to the GT, but it will definitely be fun to drive. Because of the shape of the MME, you aren't going to get any real sporty handling and you will be able to compare that to a MME with wider wheels. Yeah, I know the suspension will be different, but for a daily driver you will not notice any real difference (like when switching modes in the Z06). If you were in CA, I would be happy to let you drive mine and get a feel for it. I have (slightly) wider wheels because the stock ones made it feel unstable and the look was terrible. I ended up getting rid of the ZL1 after buying this, so that gives you an idea of what you aren't missing between the two.

Just my 2 cents but I hope some of it makes sense.

Yes, a lot of it makes sense. Do you miss the aural delight of the raucous V8? I have aftermarket exhaust on both the Z06 and RS5. Part of the fun of accelerating is listening to the engine. I'm afraid I'll miss that on an electric

I thought I would miss the 9000 rpm scream of my S2000. I don't, not one bit. SIlent running is so much better. Go for it.

There’s nothing like a good exhaust, but I find the thrill of the instant acceleration almost negates it. Sure you won’t blow people’s ears out at Cars and Coffee but you’ll beat most of them in a drag race ?

If you’re looking to go electric and don’t want a Taycan, then the Mach E GT is the best choice.

I have a ER AWD and the instant Torque never gets old and it comes with seemingly no limit at all speeds. Ford has electronically limited the standard versions (Bad Ford?) and the GT should be a lot more fun to drive. I was more a BMW guy and loved the engine noise but don't miss it at all on these high power EV's. Test rove a couple of BMW and they now feel huffy/puffy and very laggy and seriously under torqued. There maybe a handful of ICE that can take on the Mach-E under 110 mph (yes in the interests of Science ? testing has been done) and 125 mph for the GT I think but I think you would have to get to super car territory.

Definitely. That's why I ended up buying a Challenger 1320. I wanted power plus cylinder deactivation so it fit well. If you still have your other cars, then you'll be good!

Thanks for all replies and opinions. I'm going to test drive one this week. If I really like it I'll put down a deposit. But if the dealers are asking for a premium over MSRP, I'll pass.

Hello and welcome!

I love driving my Mach-E (Premium SR AWD), it is an extremely fun vehicle in it’s combination of performance and looks. By way of comparison, I also have a 2006 Mustang GT. Both have similar 0-60 times (in the low 5 seconds), but the Mach-E feels much more responsive on the throttle because of the instant max torque with the Mach-E’s electric motors.

This sort of surprised me when I first experienced it. I have always liked how fast my Mustang felt compared to other vehicles, even faster vehicles, because it is naturally aspirated and has only five gears. As a result, despite ā€˜only’ 300hp and 320lbs-ft of torque, it feels much faster than its specs would suggest because it would push relatively hard at 30%, 40%, 50% throttle.

The Mach-E changed this for me. The electric motors put even naturally aspirated engines to shame. Sometimes when I hop in the Mustang after not having driven it for several days, I momentarily think something is wrong because I’m pushing the throttle, the engine is revving, but it feels like the engine is stalling and I’m not moving. It’s of course not stalling, but this is what it feels like because I’ve gotten used to the Mach-E’s instant torque.

I think you might experience the same with the RS5 and MME GT. That being said, even something like my 2006 Mustang GT feels like it can be pushed harder around the curves than my Mach-E. This is where the SUV form factor comes in. I bet this is similar to say Porsche’s SUVs vs their sports cars. The Macan and Cayenne might be great for their segments, but they won’t hold a candle to the Cayman and Carrera in all out performance.

So with the understanding that the MME GT is very unlikely to eclipse the RS5 in overall performance, I think you might find the MME GT to be a great vehicle that is very responsive off the line, has great looks, and gets lots of attention.
