I've received this as feedback from ford on PAAK functionality. I haven't taken delivery of my mach-e so don't know if this is true.
But it looks like there is no point to PAAK in the UK, you can't really go minimalist and keyless with the car.

As it currently stands, the Phone As A Key technology in the UK does not permit the driver to engage the gears or move the vehicle around.

The functionality within the FordPass app should enable you to remotely unlock and lock the vehicle, as well as pre-condition the car. The latter is particularly useful in colder temperatures to warm the vehicle up and prevent greater energy loss.

None of us can drive the car around not in it using a phone. At this point it is my opinion none of us should be driving the car around without a key fob for at least a backup. I think it is the top row they are saying is currently available?

This is current North American paak.

From what I understand the second row may not be yet available in the UK? There is a fob button sequence for the windows up and down so all can be done with the fob. I would not make a decision on purchase due to the second row not being available yet or a phone app that does not really function right and consistently even here for everyone to date. This is a great car with second row paak phone icons or not. Do not trust me test drive it.

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully they can get this sorted overtime, I went for a test drive and its was great, apart from the dealer handing me a normal ford key fob for a mustang, I also took the model 3 performance for a drive but overall for me the mustang hits the right spot its no 3.1 but has plenty

It is not a real biggie or anything that will ruin your world. Just put a fob in your pocket and your done.

I went for solid quite and comfortable over shaky speed also and to date even with a couple of bumps have not regretted it. I also like that I have local people that have taken care of me when I do have problems and not some online service set up.

Those buttons should be available in the UK. It’s paak that isn’t due to insurance issues. Hopefully when they do a future release in the UK.

Paak Is phone as key. The second row is control over the windows and trunk/frunk. Not the same I don’t think.

The buttons are an extension of functions on the that you can already unlock or lock doors from the app. You can’t use the phone as a key though.

If it is a insurance thing it must have something to do with thief as I see no safety concerns. So you have set up paak and the two rows are there however it will not open the vehicle with your phone in your pocket and you have to physically press the buttons? The second row appears after you set up paak what else happens to allow it to work with not pressing the buttons behind the scenes I am not sure.

In the Uk they should set this up as a separate update which doesn’t require PAAK. Paak is when you set up the key like CarPlay.

Phone as a key (paak) has nothing to do with pairing the phone for carplay. You can do that with any phone and if your buddy has better tunes than you you could use his. Paak should do what the fob does and the fob does not need to be taken out of your pocket to open or start the vehicle. You are better to explain the limitation of paak in the uk right now as I have become a bit confused and am not there to experience it.

I mean that PAAK is a function of the phone like setting up CarPlay. It’s not inside FordPass.
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT211234

Right now you can already unlock the door with FordPass already but you cannot use the iPhone as a key.
I do believe the US FordPass app has it as part of the app, its not part of apple's car key
works like the Tesla app, but I believe in the UK that has been disabled for security reasons while their security team in the uk reviews the functions, like they did with the mustang key

Maybe that’s why it’s so hit and miss. If it was part of the Apple key system it would work more often.
