How much ADM markup is too much ?

So I've got a Mach E ordered and best case scenario it'll be here in January/February. I really wanted the Infinite Blue that got discontinued. I honestly wasn't even going to get a new car until the transmission blew up in my daily driver on a road trip a few weeks ago. So obviously I missed out on the infinite blue. In the meantime, I've been haunting dealers websites looking for an infinite blue to come available.

Lo and behold- I found one and the buyer dropped out (supposedly). The dealership has a $3000 markup on the car. Doing the math, the markup over what MY ordered car with the extra paint and interior package would be, is actually $2300 higher than MY car would be that is ordered.

How much markup is too much for the color that you really want?

Just noticed- the sticker I'm looking at doesn't list Blue Cruise- My car's base price was $600 higher, I assume for Blue Cruise.

That's actually not much of a markup for a IB in your preferred configuration. They are like hens teeth to find at this point. Tell them to throw in a second fob and floor mats for free and you will feel better about it, still sting but take the edge off...

It has the "interior protection package" which I didn't include in my configuration. Only difference is the interior color isn't what I wanted, but I can live with that.

It's up to you to decide if you will get more enjoyment from the infinite Blue. I always would tell my friends when they bought a car and asked if they got a good deal. Are you happy with your new car? If you are then it was a good deal.

YMMV, but I have this feeling that driving your second choice color car will bug you more than knowing you spent an extra $2300.

You will be able to claim the $7,500 tax credit a year earlier if you buy this one instead of waiting for your order.
BTW, I am very happy with the Ford cargo mat. Dresses the cargo area up nicely. I didn't feel the need for the all weather floor mats here in AZ. Not sure if they are more useful in your area of TX.

Honestly, if it were me and that was the color I wanted, knowing I couldn't order it myself. I'd pay $2300. That's actually some of the more "reasonable" markup I've seen. But only if I couldn't live with any other color

True, but they are few and far between on orphaned orders. Plus IB is very hard to come by these days.

I do like haggling via text message, I'm a lot tougher than in person. Can someone go and do the in person turn down for all the warranty/service stuff for me at the dealership though? I'm too nice. Or can I request to sit in a separate room and text them no.

I did find out that I would have to pay $600 eventually for the Blue Cruise when that update came through.
When I built my car, I waffled between red and grey. Finally decided on grey but now I keep dreaming about myself in a red car. But I can just imaging the tickets I'd get in a red car.
I love the idea of the Infinite Blue. It's my unicorn. My car that blew up was a unicorn color and I loved it. There was only 1 other car in that color in town.

@clw7777 I paid $2500 ADM to get Scotty because I wanted the IB and the Premium trim level; I'm glad to have him every day. Does it stink when you run numbers; Hell yes! But the sweet feeling of seeing that gorgeous color everyday makes the wallet sting a little less...

Gotta factor the color in, too. Barring a change from Ford, there will be no more IB MMEs.
