I think at least two keys are required so that a thief or miscreant can't authorize a new key (their own) while borrowing just one legitimate key. Most people don't travel with both keys on them.* **

I suppose the security concern could be appeased by using a PaaK authorized device as the second key for purposes of enabling a third/fourth key? I dunno. I haven't thought it through. In any case, no matter how the authorization happens, I sure would like a "SecuriAlert" notification in my email and a pop up from FordPass.

* Except for rental car drivers. Why do rental car companies insist on giving the renter BOTH keys (on one keychain)? Is it just laziness, or is there some more legitimate reason? Doesn't this enable trivial key cloning?

** Except for the wizened Mach-E and Lincoln Corsair drivers who travel with a key fob and a phone. ;)
Correct, they do it for that reason. But one could imagine that PaaK or simply confirming a prompt within fordpass could serve as a suitable second factor.

It would be interesting to know the inside information of what happened with the OTA program. Was it a marketing idea and no one asked the programming guys. It really seems like they bit off more then they were prepared to chew. Back in May they told us that sketching on our screen was coming "soon". We know that software is considered production ready-ish since they put it on some random YouTubers car. Yet, no sign of OTA being completed.

At this rate, I'll end up moving on to another car before I get an OTA that does anything I notice. I just wonder if the module programming and bus speeds ended up being a fail and they don't know what to do. It might be worth revisiting the press release back in May now that we are in September: Power Up.

To circle this back to the original subject, has anyone actually received this OTA update?
Not me I think that is why there is 11 pages of OT posts and not much about the update. I would think some should be tic tac toeing soon. My car is working well now but I have no idea if it was tinkered with from the clouds which is always a possibility now with this new tech. The behind the scenes up dates interest me a lot more than finger painting. We had word that the cooling fan curve modification will be coming OTA Q1 2022. That one I will be looking for and remember if it was on time or not. Got the paak update done at my service center therefore not sure when they noted it would be released OTA back then? Would need to go back. That update is worth it.

I just got off the phone with a Ford rep and got some juicy details!

The reason I called them is I STILL haven't seen 1.4.0 or 1.6.0. I found out that since it's not considered a "major" update it's a slow rollout. So even now, 2 months later some of us just got left out... So idk if anyone here is in the same boat as me but I guess I lost that lottery.

But I also got news of a new update coming soon. It's the first one to be considered a "major" update (it's going to require the vehicle be off). It was originally scheduled for tomorrow, but it has been pushed back to Friday/Monday. I'm assuming it's 1.7.1 he's talking about. So barring it getting pushed back again, we should start seeing it soon!

Go to Software Update in the Settings menu on the big screen. You'll need to press the down arrow on that screen IIRC. Not sure what you will find on a brand new car.

Looks like you haven't received any OTA updates. As new as your car is I assume it has all of the latest software. Once you get your first update there will be a version displayed there.

You haven't gotten any OTA updates since the dealer installed everything they could before delivery
This is what I see. Which is weird since I got 1.6 about a week before I got 1.4. ??
