Questions about the Process

I was fortunate to just wake up one morning in April and decide I wanted a Mach-E and found a Grabber Blue FE about 3 hours away at a dealership and went and bought it. I Love it. We have put in a Reservation for the Lightning (on opening night).

However, I love the Mach-E so much, I have "Ordered" a GTPE. My Order Request Date is 08/23/2021. The next day, someone from the dealership called and said, yes we have your order - "Do you want us to order it for you" Almost like asking if we were going to go steady, I asked for some assurances regarding Dealer markup and we were all good.

On the website, it says "Order sent to Dealer" CHECK. "Order Accepted by Dealer" CHECK. The only thing left is "Scheduled for Production".

My question is this - If I've decided I want a different color, is that something I need to let the dealer know now? Before I get something that says, "Scheduled for Production"?

And Finally, I've been watching all the order date, production date threads and I have been trying to keep up with them and try to figure them out - but it is hard. Those who have been through the process - What can I realistically expect in terms of hearing from Ford regarding a production date for a GT order placed at the end of August. Sometime this year? And if I don't hear anything by some certain date, then it will be a 2022 model?

The main question is about changing the color. The rest is just curiosity.

The dealer should be able to change the order before it gets a production date. After that you’re locked in.

The chances of you getting a 2021 are pretty slim

I believe the dealer can put in for a color change. If you don't have a scheduled production date you'll likely be getting a 22.

My question is this - If I've decided I want a different color, is that something I need to let the dealer know now? Before I get something that says, "Scheduled for Production"?
YES. Once the order is scheduled for production they will not be able to change it. I actually changed my order from a Select to a Route 1, and it only took the guy 5 minutes - of course this was before it was scheduled.

Oh, and you will most definitely be getting a '22.

Thanks for the replies. I called the dealer and he changed the color (to Cyber Orange). I will now wait patiently for my "Scheduled for Production" email. Thanks again!

I can say I ordered at the end of June and it's scheduled for production mid October, assuming it doesn't get pushed back for chips or anything like that. Also, that's only showing on the dealer report, when I look at seg.fyi and the ford tracker it just says Order in Process and nothing else.

I would imagine a late August order probably wouldn't even get a build date until December-January, then another month of shipping.

with ORDERNUMBER being my eight digit order number, I see everything, including my build week. (screen shots of both attached). I placed my order through a dealer.

Cuz you ordered in-store.
Under Order Date/ Order Number instead of Contact Dealer I have View. Click that and i get the link you provided w/the order number already populated.

Yeah I was mentioning it since blue92lx was saying that he could only see his production date, etc. on a dealer report. I am assuming he could go to that link and see more info himself.

You might be waiting forever for a “Scheduled for Production “ email. I never got one. I check the Manage Order page multiple times a day. That’s how I discovered that my original production week was assigned. That’s also how I discovered my production was reassigned (postponed). I believe that the majority of us were not notified by email that we had a production week assigned.

Thanks. I originally "Reserved" one (a GT in Cyber Orange) back in April but then I got nervous about the time frame and the cost, etc. So when I found the Grabber Blue FE I bought it and canceled. Next year is fine. It will be better to spread out the tax credits and I'd rather have a 2022 anyway! :)

Thanks. This is the kind of information I was curious about. I am perfectly happy in my FE for now. Man, I feel for the people who reserved one so long ago and still are waiting. I know it is of no consolation, but it WILL be worth the wait!

Thanks for the information. I was wondering if the dealership would let you know something but I'm really not sure what their role is in all this, to be honest. When I changed the color this morning I asked the guy if he had done this before (I've had mine six months and I have not seen another one in the area). He said they had ordered a few but none had come in yet.

But he called me back this afternoon and said they made the change and that I should be getting an email confirming it. And I got an email this afternoon saying my order had been changed (the price went up because of the Cyber Orange).
