Ford, why do reservations not have priority?

@Ford Motor Company there are many of us that supported the Mach-e very early, some same day of announcement, that have been put to the back of the line despite giving you $500 almost 2 years ago. We can understand chip delays and shipping delays, but it seems rather insulting that many of the deliveries for the GT have been people that never reserved and only ordered this last Spring or early summer? I reserved 15-16 months before those and ordered as soon as orders opened and yet I am scheduled to get my car almost 3 months after those late orders that already have cars? I reserved Jan 2020. I am not alone, other early reservation holders are in the same boat.

So are reservations meaningless? Certainly doesn’t make me interested reserving for any new Ford products.

I would like to know this as well... Reserved July 2020, ordered a GT in May and still no car. But, I see a bunch of people who didn't reserve and order after me already get there car?!?!? GRUMPY!!!

when I called fords marketing line they told me that priority was a multi dimensional decision.

1. reservations
2. Dealer preference (not sure how they determine)
3. Which city the dealer is in

they said there were a few other factors but didn’t elaborate. Essentially, they decide priority and we just have to suck it up and wait.

Me, personally I’ve been waiting for 12months now. Will likely be 13 before I see my car.

I think 2 and 3 are a big deal. I’ve stated my theory before but we aren’t buying from ford, we are buying from the dealer. Since ford is currently reliant on the dealership model, they have to keep them happy. So we are likely losing out on places based on them making sure they up hold their promises to those dealers.

Yep.
The Ford Reservation System is just a place holder so we can submit an actual Order Request to the dealership. Ultimately the dealer has to submit the order, assign the priority for their purchases and those need to fall within their allocations. Large volume dealers will likely have more allocations than a smaller volume dealer.

And technically speaking....Ford is REQUIRED to use the dealership model. They do not have a choice in the matter. Unfortunately. Because of that requirement, an important piece of the ordering process is out of their control. That is why they refund the $500 reservation deposit vs transfer it to the dealer for purchase. The transaction is between the dealer and purchaser.....Ford has to stay out of it.

I was the first to reserve at my dealer and was told top priority.

Your sig says it was completed on Aug 26th, you should have it by now? Sounds like a transport issue? Your dealer should be able to tell you where it's stuck.

Chip hold until Sept 30. Said shipped Oct 1 but was told it did not get on train until Nov 1. Many cars passed mine while mine sat in Mexico. So I might see it by the end of November If more don’t take priority over mine n the transfers.

My guess is that your location and the size of your dealer weighed heavily against you.

I placed my reservation within 10 minutes of the system accepting them, the night of the big reveal.
However I didn’t convert to an order until about 2 months later than I could have.
My car was delivered a little over 2 months later than the initial deliveries.
I had been under the impression that the order date was the key to getting a spot in line. I can’t remember if that was official or I just made a presumption.

@Plutoman15 , what date was your order actually placed?

Are these reservations for the Premium? I was told by 4 dealers that no premiums would be coming in until 2022 and this was a few months ago. I'm not sure what the hold up was on those specific builds but something was holding them up.

I’ve asked them several times. Even called Ford. No one will give anything more than canned answers.

i ordered a Premium ER AWD on 2.21. It still has not been delivered to my dealership! I also ordered a GTPE on 4.27 to see which one came first since I still did not have a build date on my orginial order. Guess which one is sitting in my garage? I’m not sure what the Premium issue is, but it’s an issue.
