Man I just want something I can plug in and just attached it to the car's cellular hotspot. Then just do everything from the Sync screen. Some of these systems kind of seem like they might work that way, but they all talk about cellphone paring so I can't tell.

Guess I could try giving one a shot of Amazon, if it does not work I'll just ship it back lol

I'll be honest, I'd probably hardly use it. The biggest places I would use it is when I'm waiting to pickup kids from school. I normally wait about 20 minutes for one kid, then the other kid is about 40 minutes. Would be cool to watch youtube or something while I waited without having to hold my phone in my hand.

I had looked around for some steering wheel mounts for iPads. Just slap that sucker on my wheel and watch some Youtubes :) Only down side is the audio latency between a phone/iPad and the Sync system. Not really a fault of the MME, just about every car system has some serious lag when it comes to that.

Real wishy washy @Kabish. Going from wanting a simple solution but then you'll hardly use it...

Get off our lawn.

That’s a composite video interface, not digital. Older tech and no HDMI.
True, but really how bad can it look, this isn't a huge screen

That's not the issue, the issue is converting from an HDMI to composite video signal behind the dash somewhere... is there enough space? Does it need to be a powered converter, etc... How will that affect the output of a modern HDMI streaming device.

And yet people splurge $2000 on PPF on a car they'll trade in in 3 years.
I have full intentions for PPF but after considering getting a new Mach-E almost every year, I'll stick with window tint until I have a slightly reengineered MME (revamped heating/cooling system, weight reduction, potentially different motors/batteries, etc.).

I would love some way of watching a program from by phone on the screen. I am parked up everyday waiting for school to open for about 20 mins (two children have different school opening times). Presently we watch it on a small phone.
All they have to do is make it only work when the handbrake is on.

Eventually, Ford should merge an experience to support this. For the mean time, we will need to use 3rd party hardware to accomplish this.

I have an iPad Pro and I ended up 3D printing a hanger that allows the iPad to hang overtop the Sync 4a screen, for use during idling and charging. Now that requires me to carry an iPad around when I know I'll be sitting and charging.

Another reason why I'm hoping (better) another plug-n-play option will arise.

I have this device, along with this USB Flash memory, and it works great for streaming video content from Netflix as well as locally stored content:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B095R6W43N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D7Q41PM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The device is a slowish Chinese Android device that talks the wired CarPlay protocol to the Mach E. You plug the gadget into your USB-A or USB-C port, and the Mach E thinks it's talking to an iPhone, but it gives you an unlocked unfettered Android device with a hacked Play Store on it to basically load and run any app on your car screen. Sound comes thru the Mach-E's speakers. (Note the gadget makers have named their device in CarPlay's protocol to be "PlayStation" so that is what will show up instead of "Jimmy's iPhone" when seeing the device name on the Mach-E's screen).

You can, for example, download content from Netflix onto the extra memory storage when in your garage, so that you can play it while charging etc without using a hotspot.

You can sideload any Android apps that won't install thru the Play Store if you have the technical skills to do so. The one app I haven't figured out how to get working yet is Disney Plus -- it installs thru sideloading, but it seems to realize it's on a hacked Chinese gadget speaking CarPlay, and it exits the app.

One word of slight caution: this device doesn't have a legitimate Google-blessed Play Store and account Play Services on it, and so I would not use a Google account on this one that I had anything I cared about in it. I created a new Google account just for this gadget, and there's nothing in the account (not even my payment method for the Play Store) just in case there's malware to suck up data or passwords from the account.

How's the audio/video sync? I currently use the method of just going through Android Auto on my phone (using AAAD), but the video is just slightly out of sync with the audio
