Why do people keep saying the Premium has a more luxury feel? Other than the seats, the interior is basically the same?
The interior differences on the GT versus the Premium are:
  • Performance fabric seats in GT over standard leather seats in Premium
  • Alcantara pillars and headliner in GT versus standard cloth in premium
  • GT center armrest versus unbadged armrest in premium
Other than that, most other interior items are the same.

I have a premium on order, waiting for 5 months, due any day. My dealer called and said he had a cyber orange mme GTPE if I was interested. So my decision had to be fast. We drove to the lot and went with the GTPE . No markup. $4000 state rebates, and 7500 towards tax rebate. We couldn’t turn that down. for me comfort was important and the 50 miles less charge was an issue. Now I would be having to stop and charge on a 250 mile trip. Hmmmm….it’s a trade off.

I only drove a premium 3 times and loved the ride. My husband wanted the magniride and the GT wheels. lots Of people waiting in line so you pretty much have to decide while there. Tough, fast decision. I was tired of waiting, and figured no one really knows about future deliveries and build times.

conclusion: get what you want, life is short. Obviously you really want a GT or you wouldn’t be searching for them? only one gripe, sure I would love 50 more miles to a charge, but this GT is a winner, it’s incredible. Rides smooth. The seats are a bit firmer but still with comfort with great back support. (Important to me). Oh did I forget …..sooooo fast?‼

Other than the seats, the others seem like positives though, no?

For interior, correct. I like the premium interior, but prefer the GT exterior. I'm in the process of sourcing a GT bumper for my premium to install, when getting the fender flared painted to match the body color.

The person I originally responded to said "the Premium will be more luxurious" but I'm not see that being the case. The interior on the GT also seems pretty luxurious, albeit more racing style seats that still actually look really nice.

Not much. IMO anyone who opted for Iconic Silver on a MY21, I'm jealous. Rather upset they pulled that color moving forward. I saw one in person and wanted to order a MY22 in that color. Went Grabber Blue instead. Other than that, there are no significant changes to sway you either direction.

Your current options:
  • Keep your premium order, or find another one available locally and save money
  • Spend more money for enhanced styling, better performance, and from what others have said, less comfortable seats, in comparison to the premium seats (not my comments or opinions as I do not know).
Ok. It is Iconic Silver and I’m not sure if I like the color. But I’ve only seen it in pix. Is it a shiny or flecked silver, or more of a matte one tone silver? I think I’m being swayed by the fact that DD had a silver Taurus back in the day that was driven into the ground.

Right now, the silver GT is my only option other than waiting. I wish I was better at making a decision because I know time is of the essence.

I disagree with premium being more luxurious. I believe they're on the same plane, with the GT being styled with "Performance Luxury" in mind.

It's a very bold Silver. That's the only input I can share. Everyone has their own bias regarding color.

Buy the GT and drive it until your Premium order arrives. At that point you can sell the GT (likely with a hefty profit) and take the Premium, or keep the GT and decline the Premium.

Also a great idea. I second this.

I would recommend the GTPE over the premium especially if you can get it now... I don't think the GT is worth the price difference over the premium when not much more and you can get the GTPE. (That said, I value ride quality over top acceleration (AWD premium is good enough), and GTPE is best of all).

I think I seen at least one person prefer the seats in the premium over the GT, but most reviews prefer the GT. You may want to test drive both as the seats are different.

OP here: Frustrated today. After saying I could get what I want my SO balked when I showed him the window sticker on a GT PE I found that I could get for $500 below MSRP. Said it cost more than our first house! Which is true. Obviously, I lost out on getting it. Grrr. Hoping my Premium on order will get in by June of next year.

Don’t show him the window sticker, let him DRIVE it!!

But in answer to all your questions you might as well have asked:

Who bought a GT?

Because everyone who did thought it’s worth the extra $$. I did and it is.

Should have just told him you were buying it to flip it and then “waited for the market to rise just a little bit more.”

Yes. I’m starting to think a GTPE would be worth it. Unfortunately, SO hates buying cars and won’t even go to a dealership with me. I do rely on him to fund the purchase so I don’t want to totally piss him off. He views cars a a means from point a to b. Perfectly happy with his 200k mile F150 and a 15yo MINI.
