my opinions, since no announcement was made about the number of FE, they will build as many FE that were converted to orders and that is it.
My guess is that's probably not the case. As someone else pointed out, there's some specialized parts made just for the FE. The FEs will be in the first batch off cars off the assembly line, so they likely already have those parts queued up.

Most of this should be moot though, as I suspect FEs will have the highest order-from-reservation rate than any other trim. People who order FEs are usually the most dedicated, most anxious buyers (having to place a reservation at the very beginning before the limited quantity ran out).

There are very few different parts special to the FE. Most do not have a huge lead time. Using JIT, it would be unlikely for these specific parts to be already made.

If that was the case, they would be to know the final count of colors for the specialized accent stitching which they do not have yet.

Seems reasonable to me that there is still plenty of time for suppliers to get an accurate count of orders for each part before the end of October. FE has to be ordered by I believe end of August, then they can make the 13211 red brake calipers needed, etc.

Sooner than that. Deadline to order is 7/31. This Friday.

I think you are probably right. It isn't even a question of making the calipers.....just painting them. Something we can all probably do in our own driveways.

Way back when the reservations window first opened.....I considered the First Edition but they were only available with extended range battery pack so that was a deal killer for me. I don't need the extra range, the extra expense or the extra weight. If the FE package had something unattainable like heads up display, active suspension or larger motor up front then I would have made a reservation even with the larger battery pack.

Back on June 24, I got this response from Ford's Global Marketing, Electrification person, Pei-Wen Hsu . . .

"Hi, How are you?

Thank you for your Mach-E Order. Here is the info you are looking for:

  • Customers with reservations which convert to retail orders will take priority over non-reservation retail orders.
  • First Edition is only available to those who reserved them and will be unavailable for order even if someone cancels"
I still do plan on a follow up after 7/31 . . . I will see if begging works. If not, I will be satisfied with my premium.

Any update on if you were able to convince them to let you upgraded to a FE after the FE order deadline?

I haven't pulled the on trigger on mine yet either (and will not without being able to see and sit in a mach e (any edition)). That said, the deadline has shifted at least twice. Just checked and it's currently listed as Order Deadline 08/14/2020.

For the FE? I knew it got moved from 7/31 to 8/7, but hadn't heard it moved again.

I got a call today from my dealership saying a First Edition was available so I said okay. He is going to ask if they will build an Infinite Blue First Edition with light grey interior and blue stitching. Pretty sure they won't do it but we don't know if we don't ask. :) Would accept Infinite Blue with black seats and blue stitching......should be pretty cool as well.

Will likely end up with Carbonized Grey with red stitching. I always thought that would go well with the red painted calipers.

First Edition was not my preferred spec but this will allow me to take the credit this tax year. I hope the extra battery weight doesn't affect the handling too much....

Dealership said my car would be the first one to arrive, even ahead of the other FE orders they have. According to him, they have 18 MME orders at their dealership. Very surprised at such a high number....

BTW, didn't you have a reservation number way up in the 58,000 range?

So . . . Today my dealer sales Manager called me (I had been bugging him too) and said his regional salesperson could do a FE for me! I am a bit nervous as they cancelled my Premium and I got that cancellation email, but he sent me a copy of the order with my name and order number and I am needless to say cautiously optimistic and jacked up!!!? Hoping to see the order on my owner profile tomorrow!!
