I live at the northern end of Silicon Valley. Electric cars here are like Candy Corn near Halloween. None are unique. Even Lucid Air and Rivian pickups aren't that rare.

We are thinking about taking the Pony for a train ride up to New Hampshire to see our daughter next year. I haven’t checked yet on the cost?
Excluding the passenger cost (because that depends on if you want a coach seat, or one of the three different compartment sizes -- Roomette, Bedroom, or Family Bedroom) the "car" part of the train fare was:
Lorton, VA -> Sanford, FL: $258
Sanford, FL -> Lorton, VA: $208

So... $466 for the round trip with the car (much cheaper than renting) plus whatever the cost of your passenger fare is.

Two adults were $286 each way (or another way to think of it is $286 per adult for the round trip).

But having a private sleeping compartment adds to the price. On top of the passenger fare and vehicle fare there is an additional cost for the compartment (but it's not per-passenger). Roomettes and Bedrooms comfortably sleep two. A "Bedroom" has an in-room bath/shower. Other room types use shared bath/shower facilities.

I did the math based on the cost to buy round-trip airline tickets plus rental cars ... vs. what it costs for the AutoTrain and not needing a rental car.

What I'm finding is paying $1000/wk for a rental car is ordinary that time of year. So I'm still paying less than it would cost to fly + rent ... even booking a private sleeping compartment.

I still have only seen 4 MMEs in the wild. I see the same black Premium almost every day since it’s parked on the street about 2 blocks from my office.

Being across the Bay from Elon’s factory, I see tons of Brand T. I’ve seen more Taycan than MMEs.

I saw my second Mach-E in the wild just after I posted I only have ever seen one! A fun coincidence. A red premium in a Home Depot parking lot lol.

I've yet to see a Rivian pickup or Lucid Air, looking forward to that.

I’ve seen both in various stages of camo. Come to think of it, I have seen more Rivian RT-1s than MMEs. At least they will balance out to 1:1 when I get mine. ??

EDIT: That should have been R1-T.

I’ve been waiting almost 7 months, Premium RWD rapid red. Supposed to arrive 11/28. Haven’t seen any here on South Carolina coast.

Mach E’s are everywhere here in metro Detroit, which i guess is no huge surprise. However, in a metro area that didn’t see a lot of love for EVs until recently, it’s a nice change.

I’d be surprised if there is 1 within 50 miles. Other than mine.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Too many Mach-E’s! MMEX2

Seen a few around me. Almost worked out where most of them are corralled at night!
This one the owner just stayed in the car. Most I've come across wave or chat.
But not surprised. We are crawling in the Brand T here as well and a few others now.
An i-pace eased past me the other day as smooth as ever.

Here in New Jersey I can't go anywhere without seeing two or three Teslas, mostly Model 3's and Y's. I've only seen two MME's in months.
