Hi - I searched all of the tax credit posts but can’t find an exact answer to my question - perhaps because it doesn’t exist.

We are about to order a Mach E premium. Would prefer the AWD. However, the pending legislation (which I fully understand could change or never become law) would eliminate the tax credit for cars over 55k which the awd would be. We are considering ordering the RWD instead to make sure we stay under this cap IF it ever becomes law. The problem is - all else equal I would prefer the AWD.

Am I overthinking this? Does anyone have input on if the AWD version could end up being included? Just curious others thoughts and which route I should go down. Appreciate any input.

Ford classifies the Mach E as an SUV, hopefully that will still allow you to get the tax break if the law passes.

Nobody is going to be able to answer that for you. But I wouldn’t base a purchase decision on what may or may not become law and how the MME may or may not be classified.

I hear you. Would prefer the AWD but would just hate to order it, wake up in 6 months and miss out on 7500 bucks. No real solution other than to wait for further clarification on the legislation but as we all know that could take months!

Why not order both as long as your deposit is refundable?

That would be a good way to hedge. And it would be smart to get those orders in soon in case the rumors of price increases next week are true.

The base price is below the cutoff. AWD is an OPTION [blue in the face font].

The dealer told me in writing it is non-refundable if I do not take delivery of the car. Am I missing something?
Find another dealer.
