OK, I just took a break from work and walked out to my car. I was able to set up a new PaaK finally. It appears to me that there is either a limit on the number of attempts to create/download a PaaK or that yesterday was just a messed up day for the PaaK creation servers. ?‍♂?

At least now I am back to my original problem. ??

Heh, I can’t do that. I can’t download a PaaK in order to have PaaK fail. I have to use the physical key. And I still don’t have the second row of buttons in the FP app or my picture in my profile in the car. ??
I only use the fob these days, but I did set up PaaK at one time, and that's when the second row did appear in my app. When I deleted Paak, it went away and now I just have the lock/unlock/start options.

Well, after setting up a new PaaK on Wednesday, I used the phone without the key on Thursday. It worked great. On Friday I needed to make sure I had access to the car no matter what, so I brought my key. Saturday, I went outside to start working on my frunk and the car would not unlock using PaaK. I had to unlock using the app. Today PaaK also did not work. I created a new PaaK today (Sunday) which seems to be working. ?‍♂?

Oh, and I am still waiting on a resolution to my missing row of buttons and the "Setup Phone as a Key" link in the FordPass app. I honestly don't care if my PaaK works, but I do care that I cannot open the frunk without first opening the driver's door. ??

You could try turning off Bluetooth on your phone, waiting a few seconds, and then turn it back on. That seems to work for me when PaaK fails to connect. I had it happen today.

Honestly, I didn't think to try that. I rebooted the phone and no joy, though. ?‍♂?

Probably the Bluetooth trick would not have worked since the reboot didn't. Easy to try though.

I just went through this entire thread. @HuntingPudel, you said it best. This is a proper CF. I know many have PaaK working but I'm not going to bother once mine comes. The benefit is not worth the risk.

No offense to anyone but after reading the many people who have tried PAAK and it’s failed , why would anyone leave home without a key FOB

i would be too scared to not have a key on me.

the people that leave home without are a brave bunch

just saying.

I‘m one of the lucky ones, I guess. I’ve only had my fob with me twice since I purchased my Mach-E in April. The first time was on my maiden voyage home from the dealership. The second time was when I had to bring it in for a software update. PAAK can be quirky at times, but has never stranded me.

Cars with the latest module updates are much more reliable with PaaK. I have some module updates needed, at least one will probably make my PaaK more reliable. That said, I have a Fob wrapped in tin foil and hidden in the car just in case disaster occurs.

It is very convenient to only carry my phone and not that Fob. Like most people, I literally carry my phone everywhere I go. I don't have to go look for the Fob when I need to go out, I just get in the car and go.

I was one of the people who said I would not use PaaK and would not have a problem carrying a Fob. Then I started using PaaK and changed my mind. It really is a great feature.

I am one of those people that forget their phone from time to time but I have an Apple Watch. Does PAAk work with an Apple Watch. If it does that would intrigue me.

I am 99% sure the answer is "no", but I am using Android and don't have an Apple watch.

I had my module updated a few weeks ago at a dealership and Paak works great now. I am pleasantly surprised because the dealership had not worked on a mme yet and was a little concerned when they asked me if I wanted an oil change ?

For those of you who use Android and have problems using your mobile phone as a key. Since I made the following changes, the app will can work in the background without having to open it every time. Doesn't seem to use abnormally much power either. Have a Samsung S21 +, went into "settings", then to "battery-my-device management", on to "battery" and then to "background usage limit" and finally "apps never in sleep mode". There I removed several apps that I do not use. Then pressed the + sign to add the ford app. When you now close the app, it is still in the background.
