Had my first freaked out moment with my Mache. The door unlocked, car started as normal (I had my iPhone) but didn’t realize I left my key fob in pocket of another jacket.(My key fob always sat in the car tray, didn’t notice it wasn’t in its place. )This was my moment of “freaked out” cuz I’m now 6 miles away from home and noticed my key fob wasn’t in its place. Plus, how was my car working normally; being the car would always tell me, “key fob not found” and wouldn’t start without it?
I got to my destination, put it in park, tho hesitating to turn the car off along with closing the door and afraid it wouldn’t start therefore being stranded! Awful feeling.
I have no shame in admitting, it took me 20 mins. to figure out all is good under the hood cuz unknowingly there must have been a software update to start the car without having to have the key fob in possession. I must of missed somewhere on this forum that this technology was part of a software update. It came upon me unexpectedly. So, it seems it’s all about the FordPass app now. I’m still a little hesitant to be without the key fob. I’m always about plan A, plan B and if all else fails, plan C! Any advise out there?

In essence, this Mache EV is smart muscles on wheels and forcing me to like technology a little more…. Just a little!
Something like that happened to me back in the spring. I accidentally left the fob at home and drove all the way from Phoenix to Tucson for a business trip. I pulled over at a rest stop on the way back and wasn't able to enter the car. That is when the door pillar and back up start code came in handy.

I then drove home the rest of the way and mentally retraced my steps to determine where and when I lost my fob. Was super relieved when I arrived home to find my fob sitting on the kitchen counter.....right where I left it.

If you are going to drive the car without the fob, I recommend you memorize the door pillar and back up start code.

Did you set up a back up start code when you enabled PaaK?

It's always good to hedge your bets, especially when betting on what is clearly fragile technology.

Keep your fob with you, or hope it all works out every time you drive any appreciable distance away from it.
Your advice is my thinking. I fell upon this by accident. My car started and I drove away. Out of habit, just figured the key was in my car until it wasn’t.

Do you usually just leave your key fob in the car?

Yes, I’ve memorized a code. That’s what I used to unlock the door, cause my door didn’t unlock at first using my phone. Really caught me off guard.

Does the MME allow you to have both the phone as key and key fob activated (meaning you can have the key fob one day and the phone the next day with no fob) at the same time, or is it one or the other?

After what happened today, I’m figuring your first one, phone as key and key fob.

I never set up certain days. I’ve been using the walk up walk away with lock unlock with always having key fob with me. Today is the first it was all phone and because I left my fob home.

I’ll Reiterate, I can have my fob with me and still use my phone to start or unlock. I favor the walk away and walk up unlocking best. I feel safer without my head in my phone while walking up to the car. Response time lags for unlocking using phone.
