Had my first freaked out moment with my Mache. The door unlocked, car started as normal (I had my iPhone) but didn’t realize I left my key fob in pocket of another jacket.(My key fob always sat in the car tray, didn’t notice it wasn’t in its place. )This was my moment of “freaked out” cuz I’m now 6 miles away from home and noticed my key fob wasn’t in its place. Plus, how was my car working normally; being the car would always tell me, “key fob not found” and wouldn’t start without it?
I got to my destination, put it in park, tho hesitating to turn the car off along with closing the door and afraid it wouldn’t start therefore being stranded! Awful feeling.
I have no shame in admitting, it took me 20 mins. to figure out all is good under the hood cuz unknowingly there must have been a software update to start the car without having to have the key fob in possession. I must of missed somewhere on this forum that this technology was part of a software update. It came upon me unexpectedly. So, it seems it’s all about the FordPass app now. I’m still a little hesitant to be without the key fob. I’m always about plan A, plan B and if all else fails, plan C! Any advise out there?

In essence, this Mache EV is smart muscles on wheels and forcing me to like technology a little more…. Just a little!

I guess I do. I play around with this stuff, so maybe I do. It just seemed to happen on its own.

Have a Tesla friend. He didn’t have his key fob with him and iPhone wouldn’t respond with his car and he had to have it towed 50 miles. This is what ran thru my head at my moment.

It's always good to hedge your bets, especially when betting on what is clearly fragile technology.

Keep your fob with you, or hope it all works out every time you drive any appreciable distance away from it.

You could also program the door and backup start code as well as a third layer of redundancy in case you don’t have your fob and the phone dies!
