Highway passing to top speed video. Fast!

Someone posted this on the Facebook page. I wish I could link the video, but the best I can do is screenshots.

Bottom line? Fastest highway top speed run I’ve seen. He punches it 1 second into the video.

Goes from 73 mph to 124 mph in 13 seconds.

73-100 is about 4 seconds

73-110 is about 6 seconds.

Faster than an Accord 2.0t I would say!

But if you could, try a 73-110 mph run in your 4x to see if you beat 6 seconds.

? I think you’re correct. I’ll have to set a 70-110 up in Dragy and do it. It did do a 10.3 second 30-100mph run and that’s a 70mph spread vs. a 37mph spread, it may be uncomfortably close! Here is some data I have captured:

For giggles, I pulled up my Mexican Highway top speed run in my fully stock 2020 C8 Z51. It was a straight pull from 69 to let off. The times are all from me manually timing a stopwatch against the video I have saved. I’m not doing frame by frame analysis.

69 (nice) to 100 in 4.93.
69 to 110 in 6.29
69 to 124 in 9.15
69 to 157 in 19.37

For giggles, I pulled up my Mexican Highway top speed run in my fully stock 2020 C8 Z51. It was a straight pull from 69 to let off. The times are all from me manually timing a stopwatch against the video I have saved. I’m not doing frame by frame analysis.

I don’t know how to do a frame by frame on the FB video, but looking at the 69-100 and 110 times, they aren’t too much different than the GTPE. Of course the C8 is faster but it’s not ridiculously faster.

We all know the GTPE is slow at these speeds if you start at zero.

I was just impressed by the acceleration starting at highway speeds. Didn’t run out of steam even close to as bad.

In another top speed run video, it took the guy 57 seconds to hit 124! It was cold, but still…….

Hand timing sucks. ?. My SS is at least 5-6mph slower in the 1/4 than a stone stock C8 and I run this 70-100mph. I guarantee you’re in the mid-high 3s. A GT/PE is car lengths back.

I saw that video today--it is the one posted by @Larry Paul and is from the autobahn. Seeing the Mach E get passed by the station wagon was demoralizing!

No doubt. It’s the best I’ve got at the moment. I’ll have to pull the SD card and see if the data is still there from that run. I’d bet not as I did it a few months ago.

Especially when you google the station wagon and it’s at most 240hp.

I was just happy to see a top speed run that isn’t embarrassing. Basically if the battery is near full and the weather is nice…….. not too shabby. Could be better of course…

SOC was about 79% and temp was mid 60s as indicated on dragy screen capture. I launched easy with no brake torque as evidenced by the 60ft time. I think a 2.0-2.1 is easily doable and I bet a 13.2-13.4@104 is possible with >85% SOC and ambient temps in the 80s.

Was gonna tell you to get one yesterday but forgot to. Dragy is great. Basically as demonstrably accurate as a VBox but only $159. Plus you can do video runs with data overlay as well. No brainer imo.

Triggering me? ?. I launched easy then hit it, you can see the long. G trace spike a bit after initial launch. TC was on, no brake torquing etc. It can cut a 2.0 guaranteed, I’ll play with it more. And as you know, each tenth off the 60ft is good for approx. 1.5 tenths off the 1/4 mile, that’s how I know a 13.2 is doable in perfect conditions.
And lol at taking a fwd non-supercharged Grand Prix to the track haha. Wide Track baby!
