You people scare the shit out of me! Get a handle on what you are doing please…..
Don’t ever come to Texas and get on the 75mph interstates or 80-85mph toll roads my friend. It’s everywhere and 90-95mph is probably the 80-85th percentile speed in many sections.

Just look at your rear view after you are the first off a red light. Silent and effortless it is pretty cool.
I usually wait for green, but yeah, it's very cool.

IMO the best trait of EVs because while launching is certainly fun, minimizing passing times is actually a safety feature in its own right.

Since we both own SS Sedans, I must say that when I knew I was passing I’d double or triple click that left flappy paddle for a quick rev-matched downshift before I made my pass, no waiting. I guess I prefer that method because it more closely approximated driving with a manual and picking your gear yourself.

Probably also explains why I’m fiending to get my GT350 so I can row my own again at 8250rpm. And @sotek2345 always rubbing it in ?
Of course - what else would I do! Though, I did put it away for the winter last weekend, so I just have my truck now.

It's schizophrenic isn't it? It's too slow! It's too fast! I love my car! I hate my car! My car's broken! My car's fine! I don't even have this car but let me tell you why it sucks! SMH

Not going to take the “is it dangerous” bait.

But to answer your question, 40-90 acceleration is consistent. If you’re slowing back to 40 mph, it’s only a few seconds before the gray bars disappear. But since you can see them, you know what to expect.

40-75 will happen in a blink of an eye. 75-90 will always have the gray bars but is still fast enough to pass.

Under 75 mph it accelerates like an 11 second car.

75-100 like a 13 second car.

Above 100…… like a vw bug.
I'd say this is pretty spot on from my experience as well.

Thank you for these answers! After reading so many negative comments about the ”falling on the face” after a few secs of acceleration, I was getting quite alarmed on whether I should cancel my GTPE or not. I would hate to pay such a premium price on the car just to be constantly dissapointted in it. Now I feel much more confident it will be a good daily driver.

This is the reason why I wanted to hear from you who have driven the car in these more realistic scenarios. I don’t have a possibility to test-drive the GT version here..

And to comment on the narrow road and ”even dangerous” example, I was honestly not trying to ”bait” anyone: We have majority of the roads with one lane each direction, 100km/h (62mph) speed limit and trucks driving 80km/h (40-50mph). You want to pass the truck quickly on the short straights, it’s safer to pass quickly than staying too long on the lane with vehicles driving the opposite direction. So to pass a truck quickly, one might do a 40-90 acceleration and don’t want any sudden surprises.

Thanks again!

"Under 75 mph it accelerates like an 11 second car. "

Then there is something wrong with your car. No such problem here.

I’ve heard a lot of questions about GT passing power. My experience is that it’s actually a little too fast in that it takes some getting used to.

My old car was a Chevy SS. Ran mid 12s in the 1/4 mile, so it wasn’t slow.

With the GTPE, every time I go to pass someone, even with half throttle I tend to “overdo it” and end up going 20-30mph faster than the person next to me. At least I do it quietly…..

Im so used to having to think ahead, give it gas, wait for the downshift, then go with the SS. So when I do the same kinda thing in the GTPE, it kinda catches me off guard, like “whoops, didn’t mean to blow past that car.”
I'm still finding the initial acceleration so fast that I feel like I just got dropped from one of the free fall rides. So. Damn. Fast., especially if you're already rolling: 20 to 60 is, literally, a second. It may slow after 5 seconds of thrust, but holy sh*t is that 5 seconds a rocket.

I drove one a couple days ago and I was cruising along at 30 on a deserted straightaway and thought I would just hit it to see what was up. By the time the pedal was completely depressed I had just enough time to think, “Dear, sweet Jeebus…” before I had to brake because I was well north of 70.

I goosed the throttle from 20mph just a bit to a get a giggle out of the kid in the backseat. The acceleration was almost violent. The giggle pedal works just fine.

All I can say is our AWD Select squirts around traffic like a wet pumpkin seed. And coming into a corner hot is deceiving because you look at the speedo and your like “oh shit I’m at 80 and that’s like a 60 mph corner”.
One of the videos I watched suggested leaving the propulsion sound on because it helps give you a sense of speed that can otherwise be lacking leading to going into corners hot. I thought it was a ridiculous suggestion.
Now I leave it on.

I’m often surprised at how fast I’m going in my SR AWD, I can only imagine how much more of an issue this would be with the GTs!
