Ok sooo -

I'm just wondering what some of you think of DMG from afar. I realize it's dangerous posting this in the DMG "love" thread. There's plenty of pictures of my vehicle in here so don't take this the wrong way.

From afar the DMG, looks to me, like it has a purplish brown hue, which I'm not super fond of. Once you get up close it's the DMG I like. In the dark or under cloud cover it takes on shades of black which are nice. But, I'm not a fan of DMG on a bright sunny day from afar. Anyone else agree or notice the different hue the car takes on?

If I get a sunny day up here in the Great White North, I'll let you know.
That also assumes it warm enough to wash it

Yeah, I’ve definitely picked up both purple and brown, as well as blue and black. I dig them all - like a mood ring - but you’re not imagining things!

Todd, you could simply move to MN where it’s cloudy a hell of a lot more often than it is in Sacramento! Just sayin…

I’ve been working in the field of computer graphics and design for decades and subjective color is far more complex than most people know. A grey object will appear to take on different hues depending upon the colors that surround it. The DMG is what’s known as a “warm” grey, so it can be more likely to seem purplish when a cooler “steel” grey would seem blue, or browner when a cooler grey would gravitate more to a green.

DMG was not my first - or second - color choice. I had originally planned on ordering an Iconic Silver… and when that was discontinued, I did order the Rapid Red. However, when my dealer had an order fall through for a DMG that was otherwise equipped like my order - which still didn’t have a build date after three+ months - I jumped on it.

But the color has really grown on me. I think it looks much better in person than it did in photos, and I do like that it has “moods” insofar as it looks more different under different lighting conditions than most colors.

Particularly when the sun is out, it‘s still light enough to benefit from the swept-back illusion created by the black roof and trim, which makes the car seem sleeker. And that is missing entirely from the Shadow Black.

Just got my DMG back from the PPF / ceramic shop - and also asked them to debadge the doors and apply the @oadesign GT-style grille vinyl. Very happy with it - and by the way @DevSecOps - a perfectly clean DMG in the Minnesota winter sun shows some definite green. I hadn’t noticed that one before…

Ordered my MME (Carb grey!) in June, set on production in September, finally was built and shipped in November, delivered to the dealer in December 2021. It was a surprise to me when the salesman called to inform me that my BLACK ? MME has arrived. Hmm, Black? It was a bad joke because my previous car was black and it was a nightmare with weekly carwashing to keep clean. The next day I found that Ford discontinued Carb grey and replaced it with DMG which is much darker. But anyway it's a cool color as well and I picked up my car. Welcome back to weekly car washing
