Ford needs to add a "Track Mode" if they want MME GTPE to be taken seriously as a "performance muscle car."

If the statement is true in this video, about MME GTPE being hampered to just 5-seconds of full power, then GTPE won't ever win these kinds of tests.
For the liability concerns, "Track Mode" could cross-reference vehicle GPS location to make sure it isn't being used on the street (other cars do this).
For battery friendliness, "Track Mode" could allow "full power" for a longer duration, such as 60 seconds, but then impose a period of cooling before it can be used again. There could also be limits around SOC cannot fall below 20%, or something like that, which would probably be prudent for battery health.

Thoughts?

Check the video. A bit disappointing. :-(

The 5 second issue has been posted on the forum for quite a while. Don't need to watch a YouTube video on it.

Um, it's not a performance muscle car, It's a sporty SUV Crossover that happens to be quicker than a V12 Bentley Bentayga. I guess Harley-Davidson better get busy if they want to be taken seriously in the boating world? ?

I agree. The car needs to be unlocked but they should add any GPS based power restrictions to the car. The owner should be able to full throttle hoon no matter where they are.
Well there is a limit. Ford offers a warranty. If they lift every restriction you'll either burn out your battery or the motors, and so they have to keep certain parameters in cheque beyond which it's your fault for the damage and not theirs re: warranty claims.

This is my experience exactly. Not many of us go to the track though. The vehicle is software limited to protect itself from heat buildup.

It is not only the 5 second power, the car is also limited on the freeway like all the time. If you speed up to over 60 then a power limiter is added and acceleration is getting ridiculous. This makes the car a bit unpredictable on the freeway. Reaching the topspeed of 200km/h is taking forever. And yes i am able to test this on the german highway.

Looks to me this needs to be finetuned. I get that the battery is getting hot, but in some cases it is now slower then my previous AWD+ER version.

That is what the Shelby version must have.
I am happy to upgrade the cooling system of my GT Performance edition to match that. All it takes is more temperature sensors on the battery and maybe a heavier cooler system. Or maybe Ford is just being to conservative in tweaking the car.

Probably and that is why I think Shelby would need to go that bit further to fix this issue. Then it would really differentiate it from the GTPE.

What evidence do you have that lifting the restriction would burn out your battery or motors?

Counterpoint- Every other BEV on the market with less restrictive power throttling.
