I placed an order for a 2022 Mach-e Premium pkg, ER in Space White on 1/3/2022
My sales guy had someone back out of theirs. Everything is the same except: black interior and it is a 2021 model year.
They are going a 5k ADM on this one. With that said, the msrp on it was lower so that actually increase in price is around 2500
Not sure when to expect my ordered vehicle in. It's not urgent that I have one now, but I don't think I'll lose money if I do buy that one while I wait for mine to come in. Here's why:
A: I should be able to get the $7500 tax credit (unless congress passes any of the proposed legislation that limits the price of a vehicle allowed and/or limits the income of the tax filer to $100k as proposed)
B: They indicated that they would give me a good deal on the trade (whatever that means) so that I wouldn't lose money on it - (with that said it will be used at that point so I'd expect they couldn't sell it for the same price).
C: Theoretically - should mine come in some time the first half of the year - I should be able to get a second tax credit ???

I know you all have a lot of experience with the Mach e buying experiences so I'd love your feedback and input.

Thanks!

Yes, you can buy unlimited cars and get a tax credit on each, if it's still in existence.

I wouldn't pay any ADM on a car, and I'd be using X-Plan if I were not already using A-Plan.

IF a Job2 order...Talk ADM down to $2500 and buy it. You will offset the price increase and pay net $500 over, as well as ensure omitted features removed from the 22's (motion sensor trunk lift, soundproof glass, etc). And you don't know what the future hold's with regards to supply shortages which can delay your order. Take that from those that still are waiting for 21's.

Negotiate the buy back price in advance and get it in writing, or just wait for the 22. I wouldn't pay ADM either, but I have my MME now so it is easy for me to say that. I got mine with an X-plan discount.

One advantage of waiting for a 22 is you will get all the production and design improvements made over the last year of production. Not that the 21s are bad, but it is a first year product and the 2nd year will be better. That is how it works.

I feel like losing the tax incentives is like paying ADM... Is a MME GT Perf Edition really worth 70K before TTL? I mean, it's not an actual Ford Performance vehicle like a Raptor or a GT500...

I think there is a risk to lose the tax credit on either given that congress may change the rules at any time. :( Not sure if they can change what is already in place if they do change things in the new legislation or if the current rules would need to continue until expired... guess that is a good question for the tax man.

I second this. I ordered 10/19/21 and still waiting for production date. I’m honestly thinking it’s going to be fall before I see it between production waits, chip holds and transport delays. I may have found the exact car I ordered on a lot and I personally decided it was worth it to pay a small ADM.

-I’m impatient to begin with.
-In your case you could risk the tax credit or partial credit. No one knows
-I worry they will remove additional options that I actually care about and then I’m stuck with a lesser car and can’t find one with all the options on a lot.
-I’m financing and depending what rates do between now and the fall I’ll probably make up the ADM in financing charges. ??

I wouldn’t worry about that since you have zero control over it. But highly unlikely they’d be retroactive to people who already bought cars.

I agree with the “negotiate $2500 ADM,” with one change:

Only do it if you’d be happy keeping the 2021 and not buying the 2022 if the deal doesn’t work out.

In all of automotive history (except the last year), buying a new car means losing thousands when you drive off the lot. I wouldn’t bet on the current market lasting.

Just say no to the ADM, you’ll buy it for the same terms they quoted you on your order.

Agree.
They can put ADM on the 2022 if they like buy don't pay it for the 2021.

Do you really think someone who is going to charge you $5000 over msrp is not going to screw you when you try to trade it into them? then your not thinking right. It will be cheaper for you to locate a car in another state and have it shipped to you then to pay the ADM. I live in New York and my dealer is selling them at MSRP, so im sure if you invest an afternoon you could find the same thing.

I think it depends on the trim level and how willing someone is to give up specs/colors or how long they will wait/search. This week I’ve started searching most of the US (except New England and the far west coast) for the 21 version of what I have on order. Willing to change range and interior color. I’ve found 4 that were available at some point this week. Lowest ADM is $5k (up to $8k) except the one in Ohio that is $3k ADM but I’m #23 on the waitlist when it arrives.

You want a select or maybe base GT doesn’t seem to be too hard, but a Premium seems harder to find and negotiate on.

What’s your local dealer? I’ll check them too.

I found my 2021 GT PE, (identical to the '21 model I ordered but won't even be built until who-knows-when) out of state, for MSRP. I am glad I pulled the trigger and didn't wait, as mine still has the upgraded glass and auto-lift gate sensor, which I use all the time.
