Yesterday my wife had a little adventure which brings up an interesting question:
Can YOU initiate a charge from Firspass? I can. She cannot. I’ve checked both of our phones. We’re on the same app. We have the same connected services enrolled and enabled. We have the same default credit card in FordPass. But when you go through the “chargers, map, select location, select charging station” menus in FordPass, I get the option to initiate a charge. She does not.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Can YOU initiate a charge from FordPass??? 84A638F8-52BD-48E1-9072-5A3BEDBAE893

Clicking any of the “select” circled in red gives me the opportunity to “initiate a charge.”

Her iPhone 13 (standard size)
Ford Mustang Mach-E Can YOU initiate a charge from FordPass??? AE0E2EE0-8291-400D-BCCE-53386761FE1B

Missing the “select” option.
So my question is does anyone else with an iPhone 13 or smaller phone have the “select” option? It appears to me that the screen is just cut off. If I hold her phone up to mine it looks like the font size and spacing is exactly the same, but her screen doesn’t go over far enough to show the “select.” Could Ford really have coded their app so poorly that the screen cuts off rather than resizing?

Background for those that want the full story or will say We did it wrong

Yesterday my wife Drove from home to Herkimer, NY where she tried to charge at an EA station. Our plug and charge was messed up (we later found an old charge hadn’t gone through and we needed to go to connected services and approve it, but that’s not the question here). So she used a credit card and the charge started. After a bit that charge ended itself for no hood reason and wouldn’t restart. Probably a station fault but calling the 1-800 number on the charger brought up a message that the call couldn’t be completed as dialed.
She moves chargers and by now has me on FaceTime. I watch plug and charge fail. I watch the card reader fail. I say let’s try initiating a charge from the app. We switch to FaceTime on our iPads so we can show each other our phones and I can walk her through step by step what buttons to push. Well I’ll be damned if her phone doesn’t have the option to initiate a charge. I have to remotely initiate a charge for her. I later find the plug and charge error and resolve that. Later in the evening she charges in Syracuse and Plug and charge works. But now she’s back home and I’m trying to figure out why I can initiate a charge in the app and she can not.

My understanding is that there is one main account, and that account has to Share Charging Access with the other account. Did you do that first? Or did your wife set everything up without you doing that?

We are sharing access. I checked that too. I’ll add that her second plug and charge event worked fine and deducted from our communal free charging pool. So we are definitely sharing. But she still, this morning, doesn’t have the ability to initiate a charge.

Have you played with the font setting on either phone? If it was cut off, wouldn't she see the partial word? Have you tried landscape mode?

Technically, using plug and charge doesn't prove her account is working, since anyone can just plug in the car, and the car is attached to your account

I suspect you aren't sharing. As I recall, when I setup my wife's account, I had to approve her in my account.

Well now every time I try to access connected services at Ford.com/connectedservices I get an error and can’t access my account. Going to get on with my day and try this again later.

Ok. Back at it. I can get into connected services on both her account and mine. There is the same credit card in the wallet. Within her connected service account it doesn’t show the credit card but states the credit card in your Ford Wallet will be billed. Within mine it shows the default credit card.
back within FordPass, plug and charge is active for both of us. Mine has the ability to toggle sharing on and off. Her’s does not.
I have toggled sharing off and back on as @Logal727 recommended. No change. I have toggled plug and charge off and on entirely. With no change.
If I log her app out and then log into her phone app with my username/password,THEN the ability to initiate charges shows up. So it’s definitely something related to her account trying to share my payment info.

If anyone else has shared plug and charge, can you check to see if the daughter account can initiate charges from the app? It’s a fairly unique situation where plug and charge failed, the card reader failed, and we even tried to initiate from the app.

Rather than figure out what went wrong probably easier to start over.

Delete her phone from the car. Have her delete the app. Then reinstall and add again.

No, my wife's phone cannot initiate charges from the app, looking at the same location as my phone. I have "Select", she does not. We have P&C set to "off".

We have Android phones, Google Pixel 4A, so this is not a fruit issue.
