Yesterday my wife had a little adventure which brings up an interesting question:
Can YOU initiate a charge from Firspass? I can. She cannot. I’ve checked both of our phones. We’re on the same app. We have the same connected services enrolled and enabled. We have the same default credit card in FordPass. But when you go through the “chargers, map, select location, select charging station” menus in FordPass, I get the option to initiate a charge. She does not.
My iPhone 13 Pro Max:
Clicking any of the “select” circled in red gives me the opportunity to “initiate a charge.”
Her iPhone 13 (standard size)
Missing the “select” option.
So my question is does anyone else with an iPhone 13 or smaller phone have the “select” option? It appears to me that the screen is just cut off. If I hold her phone up to mine it looks like the font size and spacing is exactly the same, but her screen doesn’t go over far enough to show the “select.” Could Ford really have coded their app so poorly that the screen cuts off rather than resizing?
Background for those that want the full story or will say We did it wrong
Yesterday my wife Drove from home to Herkimer, NY where she tried to charge at an EA station. Our plug and charge was messed up (we later found an old charge hadn’t gone through and we needed to go to connected services and approve it, but that’s not the question here). So she used a credit card and the charge started. After a bit that charge ended itself for no hood reason and wouldn’t restart. Probably a station fault but calling the 1-800 number on the charger brought up a message that the call couldn’t be completed as dialed.
She moves chargers and by now has me on FaceTime. I watch plug and charge fail. I watch the card reader fail. I say let’s try initiating a charge from the app. We switch to FaceTime on our iPads so we can show each other our phones and I can walk her through step by step what buttons to push. Well I’ll be damned if her phone doesn’t have the option to initiate a charge. I have to remotely initiate a charge for her. I later find the plug and charge error and resolve that. Later in the evening she charges in Syracuse and Plug and charge works. But now she’s back home and I’m trying to figure out why I can initiate a charge in the app and she can not.
