Hi Valued Ford Early Access Program Member,

You’ve been selected to be one of the first within the Ford Early Access Program to receive the next suite of Ford Power-Up software updates. You will receive between 5 and 7 updates depending on which vehicle you have, and at the end of this sequence of updates, you will receive an email notifying you that your vehicle now has BlueCruise™  hands-free driving enabled.

Unlike prior updates that happened seamlessly in the background while driving, some of these next updates will require the ignition off to install. During this type of update, you will not be able to lock, unlock or enter your vehicle. You will be able to exit your vehicle. We’ll always send an in-vehicle and in-app reminder before the time you have scheduled the update so that you can make sure it occurs at a time that’s convenient for you.

Our systems monitor these updates. If your software update fails, no worries, we'll trigger the update again and keep you on the same version in the meantime. If your update pauses due to loss of WiFi or cellular connection, the download will simply resume when connectivity is restored.

In the rare case that a critical system software configuration is not correct after the update has occurred, out of an abundance of caution, we will not let the vehicle operate.
If this happens, we’re committed to providing you with truly personalized service. As a participant in this select group within the EAP, we will contact you at the phone number associated with your account (If your number has changed, please reply to this email with your updated number). We’ll then supply onsite service at your residence and manually re-install the software. We’ll also provide you with alternate transportation.

How to Prepare for Updates

Ensure Automatic updates are set to On
  1. Select Settings on your vehicle's SYNC® screen
  2. Select System Updates
  3. Toggle Automatic Updates to ON

Set a schedule for convenient day(s) and time
  • The more days you select, the faster you will get updates!
  • We recommend setting your schedule for as many days as possible, at a time you would be comfortable being contacted should any issues occur.

  1. Select Settings on your vehicle’s SYNC® screen
  2. Select System Updates
  3. Select Schedule Updates
    1. If no schedule has been set, select the days of the week and time that you typically don’t need access to your vehicle.
    2. Your set schedule will be recurring, so every time an update that requires your ignition to be off becomes available, it will be installed at your selected day(s) and time unless changed. You’ll be notified in FordPass™  and your vehicle's SYNC® screen when an update is scheduled to install, with an option to change the schedule.
    3. If a schedule has already been set, you can come back at any time to change it
  4. Select Save

When an update is ready for install, you can also choose to Update Now ahead of your scheduled time. You can do this when prompted or on your in-vehicle screen. From your SYNC® screen, simply select one of these icons when it appears , or , then proceed to Update Now. Or, select Settings > System Updates > Update Details > Update Now. Please ensure you have enough time to complete the update, as you will not be able to use your vehicle during this time. Check your FordPass™ app for the latest information about how long each update will take (typically 15 to 45 minutes).

Participate in our Advanced Analytics Program
Again, problems aren’t expected, but it's important that we quickly address any issues prior to the next wave of software releases. Therefore, we’re inviting you to participate in Ford’s Advanced Analytics Program. This program allows Ford owners to enable their vehicle to send comprehensive analytical data back to Ford to assist in troubleshooting and improving software updates. If you would like to participate, please respond to this email and express your interest.

Thank you! We love having you as part of our Ford Early Access Community, you truly are making a difference. However, if you no longer wish to participate, you can leave the program by visiting earlyaccess.ford.com/account

I've had the advanced analytics tool. It's a great way to send feedback directly to Ford's engineers. Beware that when it is in place they are collecting VERY DETAILED information on where you go and how you drive.

Ha, well I can't do either one of the required steps since I'm stuck in 1.7.1 limbo... Does your Early Access webpage look or say anything different?

Yup and they are gonna be picking up speed for rolling them out
I mean they would have to. At the current rate of 2 weeks for EA and then several
Weeks for everyone else it would take a year.
