The fix is not released yet, Taking the car to a dealer at this time will just result in lost time with your car.

Am I the only one who hopes everytime I see a reply in this thread that "This is it! Ford finally released a fix!!!". Then I find more of the same. Yet I keep doing it expecting different results. lol. Come on Ford, fix this before you break our spirits completely!

Getting my windshield recall done in April. Hoping they will also have a fix by then.
Also a half shaft end of March.

I was surprised they called me to bring it in too. Fingers crossed, maybe they know something we don't.

For your benefit, it might be worth asking what their plan is before you bring it in. If they can't give you a real answer you might just be wasting your time.

As I suspected, dealer was not able to do anything. The plan right now is wait and see what Ford does in April.
@Ford Motor Company , any chance we can get official word on if/when this issue will be addressed?

Same experience here. I called the OTA team at Ford yesterday and all they could say was that they are aware and have no ETA on this fix. Very disappointing that it takes more than 3 months to come up with a fix, also , no communication, no dealer guidance, very bad customer experience overall.

No ETA on the OTA. Still a PITA.

I also got a similar response today. It sounds like, based on the available information, that the original plan was to have a release by the end of February (as noted in SSM 50383). Ford tests all their software updates on their Ford Management Lease vehicles prior to public release and as they were testing a fix for this issue found the fix had the possibility to fail. They've now addressed that and are currently re-testing it internally. The current plan is to release this fix to Early Access members if no other issues are found by the end of March (1 month delay) with a note to hopefully release it sooner.

I think the biggest issue is the lack of formal communication on the issue and associated progress being made. I was also told that there is a forthcoming communication on this topic to early access members to address this.

Personally, I'd rather just wait for this fix rather than trying to go to an uninformed dealer who is going to either keep your vehicle for a while and not fix anything or tell you it's fixed and it's not and just cause more problems. So for now I'll put down my pitchfork until March 31... luckily for Ford they get 3 more days in March than February :).
What I just heard on the issue of what is going on from my contact at FMC:

The fix requires engineering effort and tooling to recover the module in the vehicle that is preventing it from getting software updates. With that, it takes time to engineer these solutions and test them so that we can truly fix the issue for you. For this fix, we thought we had a solution, but our testing proved otherwise. Therefore, we needed to tweak the tooling and retest to ensure it fixes it. This tooling is to prevent you from having to receive a APIM module replacement.

We truly appreciate your understanding and we’re working on communicating the pl

Honestly, I can't understand what fix takes 3 months to develop. The corrupted update was sent on November. If Ford wants to play in this EV game they'd better ramp up their software skills

When I hear the word "tooling," I think hardware. Particularly, hardware to allow access to a part. That can't be right, can it?

That was my reaction, too, but I think what they really meant was "tool chain."

In software development we certainly use the phrase tooling also. FDRS works via little applet’s (I believe java applets) that get kicked off and have to do their part. I would hope they are referring to that rather than tooling in the sense to for instance, JTAG the APIM to write a missing serial number, likely using a pogopin plug connector. Lol. Couple competing ideas there. Guess we wait and see.
