I’m on false 1.7.1 (it’s really 1.6 that’s failed to install 1.7.1). It bugs me a lot. However hopefully the dealer can do something next week about it.

if you are going for the service recall, it's better to ask them specifically, beforehand, to do this powerup.

most dealers will not do it on their own. like many other posters have mentioned, this update requires several hours and i don't think they get paid for it.

i hope i am not the ony one stuck on 1.6!
Nope, most of us are stuck on 1.6 or even 1.4 while the USA powers on up to something like 2.5.3 now! Do us UK customers not matter?!?!

I have asked and they said it’s booked for hours on software. So hopefully.

All the US power ups that are pushing through at the moment are related to the BlueCruise rollout, and are only being pushed to those forum members in the US who are in the Ford Early access program.

It should also be noted that we aren’t getting BlueCruise any time soon - so those Power-Ups won’t apply to us.

I know there is massive FOMO about PowerUps generally but there’s only a couple that will make any discernible differences to your car, and they are 1.7.1 and 2.3 which have a couple of CarPlay updates for SYNC.

It’s easy to feel like a second rate territory when you see all this activity across the pond - but we’re not really that far behind them.

…and don’t forget there’s still a ton of people in the US who are also still stuck on Power-Up 1.6 as well.

Just posted on the main forum..... I have no idea what the service involves, they didn't do the SYNC software update but did all others. It was started at 1406hrs and all done by 1632hrs. They sent a video of the tyres depth being measured and brakes being checked but that's about it. They didn't wash the car and they made up some story about that being due to COVID and then they changed their minds..... Gates Ford Harlow.

Not sure about being most miles, I'm up to 19450 but I've had it since July 2021.

My Mach-E got the 1.7.1 update at the dealer here in Italy in about two hours, it seems to be the latest version available to EU cars.

@Wonky_Donkey any idea why we aren't getting BlueCruise? i have a nasty feeling we will get it when they start charging for it ... which is when i might start looking at alternate EVs.

Don't they have to map all the suitable highways in the UK to Blue cruise zones for it to work? Can't imagine that coming here anytime soon.

The UK road data Ford needs already exists - they just have to buy the rights to use it from whoever owns it.

What's holding us back is the legislation and certification unfortunately.

More Ford untruths. I'm on 2.3 and I'm definitely in the UK although I suppose that is not classed as EU these days.
Hi
i have just had the recall to do with the sunroof and was told I had a software update carried out as well. How do I know what version I am up to? And more importantly how do I find out what if any benefits do I get from it?

Hi Kevin

Just as a starter when talking about the Mach-E and "software updates" - it has a multitude of meanings and often people are not aware that there's far more going on than just the version of SYNC4A that has been applied to the car.

Mach-E has over 40 modules or mini computers on board that all have their own discreet function, and all of these modules can and do have software updates. These modules can run things like the door controllers for the locks, the battery management system, the external cameras, or even the AirCon.

So the updates that Ford are applying for customers right now as part of the recall works are specifically the ones that manage the DC Rapid charging, door controllers, and the range calculations in the drivers display. They are not updating the module that controls SYNC4A (ie all your Navigation, Maps, and the stuff you see on the big screen.)

The email you should have received from Ford for the recall should have outlined the changes for you, and I've attached the relevant snippet below....

"At Ford, we are always striving to improve our products. Therefore, while your vehicle is with the dealer, we will also take the opportunity to update the software on a number of modules fitted to the vehicle. These software updates will provide the following functional improvements:

- Resolution of error that inaccurately understates the actual driving range
- Improved vehicle handling under extreme manoeuvres
- Reduced cooling fan noise while charging"

Unfortunately some customers misunderstood the term software update and thought that the new version of the Sync4A software would also be installed as part of this work. This is not the case, and that will be delivered OTA (Over The Air) directly to the vehicle when Ford have ironed out the bugs in the update process later this month.

Hope that helps.

Hi

the recall I have showing on the Ford pass only relates to the sunroof and windscreen. There is no mention of any software update. That information or statement came from the Ford lady on the desk who I am sure wouldn’t know what you were talking about in your reply to me.
I spoke to the service manager and asked him the question - “what updates / benefits were provided by the software update”
to which he replied “ I don’t know I will try to find out”

so as you can see it’s the blind leading the blind here.

so the update which allows quicker charging to 90% instead of 80% is not part of this update? As your snippet does not mention dc charging.

thanks for your help
