Issue: Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E and F-150 customers may report experiencing a Ford Power-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display and/or FordPass. In addition, some technicians may experience the inability to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) or telematics control unit (TCU) using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive. It may also be observed on the PTS - Over The Air (OTA) dashboard that multiple APIM and/or TCU updates have failed, or a no OTA history message is displayed. This may be due to a internal software error. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to recover the APIM/TCU.

I suppose them having to bypass a module and go to a random usb port shows how it took a bit of time to figure this out.

So, my question is who of us are going to be running to their dealership this week to say, install this or wait a few weeks for potential other side effects to surface.

I deliberately held off scheduling the recall repairs until April, just to see if we would get the software fixes by then. Now I'll be reaching out to my dealer to coordinate with the service department for the software fixes at the same appointment, and that in turn should give them enough lead time to make sure they're ready to apply the fixes.

Maybe. Car likely goes to a contracted car glass shop for the recall repair. Mine went to a shop about 12 miles from the dealer, sat overnight, did the recall, returned to Ford that night. The next day was for the software updates. Sat at the dealer overnight, then about 3:00 PM that day the dealer texts and says they just got the car back and can't get to the software updates that day. Need to keep it over the weekend and do the updates on Monday!

Don't they know I can see where the car is on the app and the widget? Why do they lie? Or is it that the service manager is lied to and not on top of his job? Either way, sad.

I'm scheduled, first available appointment was next week.

Optimistic view - I'll get it fixed that much sooner.
Pessimistic view - I'll be towards the front of the line for an APIM replacement order

Sent the TSB to the service manager and suggested they fix two or three others first then give me a call

Same experience. Told me the car was at the glass company still. Went outside and the salesman said, your car is looking good, i just saw it down the back. I think because it still has the lining etc. to go back in they used that excuse. Don’t think they know that fordpass is useful!

I haven't heard anything back from my dealership since I mentioned this to them yesterday. It just happened to be fate that I took my car in to be looked at when this news hit the next day. I told them to keep it and keep working on it since I work from home. Hopefully hear some good news today??
