In all due respect to the service guys; this repair is closer to unbricking a cell phone than to the kind of car repair they are used to.

TBH, I don't blame them , Ford isnt providing them with enough information and training. I don't understand why Ford did not include the symptoms from the sync UI on the TSB, a "before" and "after" screens.. would go a long way towards clearing all of the confusion.
The training is there but most don’t want to learn it

I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone on this Forum. Your knowledge and ā€œissuesā€ reporting have been such a huge help. Folks here seem to know more than the Ford dealers much of the time!
I’m scheduled for the windshield/roof recall and the 1.7.1 fix on April 11th (I would have wasted a trip or two trying to get 1.7.1 fixed had it not been for this thread).
Thank you, All!

Ford should have a person monitoring these forums. It would probably save them money in the long run as well as save face on a major issue like this. Companies will never police themselves. That’s why we have laws and and why freedom of speech and the press is so important. So we can become aware of things. Thanks to everyone who has contributed!

They do. They got back to me once for something I still ended up fixing.

FWIW, allegedly Ford is also working out having the BlueCruise update available at the dealer to be loaded after the TSB to fix the stuck 1.7.1. That should be available "in the next few days". So if you want BlueCruise ASAP, you might want to wait to take your car in for this TSB until that's relased... otherwise you'll just have to wait for the OTA's for BlueCruise to get pushed to your car. Either will work, but the OTA's will likely not happen immediately after getting the TSB done.

I think the first year is free then $600 for 3 years after? ($200 per year not $600 per year)

So my car has been at Ford since last Tuesday. It was in the shop when the news landed that there was a fix. Wednesday and Thursday they didn't have all the parts needed so I order things from Amazon and dropped them off.

Monday is here, they have the info, the parts, AND THEY STILL HAVE ISSUES!

Still unsuccessful at updating my car. Does the APIM need replacing or anything? Anyone have success with this yet?

Sorry for the delay folks. Here is my experience...
Was contacted by Ford's Early Access Program product manager to arrange a time for Ford engineers to come to my dealer and perform software updates to try and resolve the stuck OTA update. A member of their OTA Module Programming team emailed and asked if I could bring in my vehicle last Thursday.

While checking into dealer service, the manager mentioned that he just found out about them coming out the evening before.

I was unfortunately working remote from the dealer waiting area and taking a number of calls so was not able to speak with the engineer as much as I would have liked. I also had to rush out when they were done to get to another meeting.

The engineer came out and said the fix was applied successfully after about 90 minutes and that my vehicle was ready for OTA updates. They said they had performed some sort of test and that it had "checked in". He then said they could manually perform a Sync update or I could wait for it to come down on its own. I told him to go ahead and install the sync update which took about 20 minutes. I also asked if I was now all set to receive the Blue Cruise updates and he said yes.

I now had to rush home for my next set of meetings, but did notice that my settings seemed to be gone. Later found that my profile was gone and that I had to re-create and reset my personal settings and re-link my fob and PaaK on my phone. Only major difference I noticed was that the Notes app was now installed.

Under Sync Info, I now show version 21174_PRODUCT, Revision 168

I am now able to select "Automatic Updates" and set a date/time successfully. Per the Blue Cruise email, I've set my update time for Monday 1:00pm to be during business hours. I have not received any notices of updates since I brought it home Thursday. Hoping they start coming this week.
Well, thought I'd send an update after 10 days or so. So far no change since my update by Ford engineering on 3/17. No signs of OTA either through the interface or the IOS widget OTA info.

Since the update I am able to toggle automatic updates on/off and set a single date and time. I had been setting it a day or so ahead and waiting for my updates to come down with no luck. I then headed out for a short vacation last week and hoped I would come back to better news to no avail.

I replied to the email thread with the product and engineering staff who arranged my dealer visit and let them know I hadn't seen any changes today. I asked if they see anything on their end for my VIN or if there is anything I could do to help things along. No reply yet.

Look in the real indicator location: bezel diagnostics, APIM serial number... If you have it there you should be good and just waiting for a campaign to update your car. If not, you still have an issue I believe. For instance on my car I managed to get 1.7.1 side loaded but my serial is still missing. And I fear this latest fix won't help me at all because I have 1.7.1 loaded. This Mach-E is a mess. I'm trying to stay in the happy camper mentality... Really am.

Do you have Notes now?

After the fix you should actually be on 1.7.1 and waiting for an OTA to update you to the version that was included in 2.3.0 that adds multi day update scheduling.

As long as you have notes, and can toggle automatic updates, you should be ready to receive future updates again. Ford probably hasn't deployed any to these cars yet that I've seen.
