MME Wish list ...

The Mustang Mach-E is a totally awesome EV as it stands, but there are a few things that might be done to make it even better in the near future. I probably missed a few obvious suggestions myself. I’m pretty sure that Ford monitors this website — so maybe a few of the following improvements might actually make it into future MME builds.


Standard:

Higher voltage charging ability (e.g. 800 volts) for faster charging with the highest power DC chargers.

Improved HVB cooling for longer sustained DC charging maximum rate (than the current 0.1 hour or less).

Ability to limit the maximum L2 charging rate for use with lower current 230 VAC circuits while traveling with the Mobile EVSE. An OTA software upgrade perhaps?

Improved “Moose Avoidance” handling — minimize vehicle oversteer during such a maneuver.

Eliminate side view mirrors for better aerodynamics and reduced wind noise, display images on the driver’s video console instead.


Available Options:

Fog/cornering lights for all trims (and not just on the GT and GT Performance).

A choice of something besides a black interior for the CA Route 1 trim. Grey? Tan?

Improved headlights to upgrade Select and CA Route 1 trims to meet the highest safety rating for those of us who drive a lot after dark.

Retractable sunshades for models having glass roofs for those of us living in hot climates.

Heat pump to replace/supplement resistance heater for passenger compartment for improved cold weather range.

Bidirectional L2 charging ability to provide household emergency backup power and the ability to store off-peak energy for later use for those of us forced to use time-of-use utility pricing..

Some good stuff here. The no mirrors will be a non-starter as I believe they are a federal requirement to have at least two mirrors on all passenger vehicles.

Adaptive high beams would be awesome.

Sunshade, great idea.

Ability to adjust L2 charge rate from the vehicle should be easy, many EVs already have that feature.

You can't get fog or cornering lights on the GT/GT PE now, do you mean if they make it an option that it isn't limited to those trims only?

Yes, that is correct. Good lighting on all MME models should be offered to those willing to pay for it. I might be wrong, but I THINK that the ICE Mustang GT might be the sole bearer of stock fog/cornering lights currently … improved lighting would obviously raise the base price if it was standard, and not everyone does a lot of night driving where it matters, hence the available option.

Nice list. But perspectives vary. There is not a single one of those things that I care about.

OK, I admit side cameras would be cool. But I think illegal in our country, so will not be holding my breath.

I would like a split screen for Ford Navigation and Android Auto, if only to somewhere display what song/artist is playing on one of my Phone music apps (like Apple Music or Sirius XM app)

I'll second the request for bidirectional charging. Would place an order today if it had it, but there isn't an EV out there yet that I want that has it, not that I'm aware of. So if Mach E got it, I'd buy one.

Would also love a natural tan interior.

Completely unnecessary. After a year of living with my glass roof and perpetually in summer with highs above 100, I’ve yet to see a need for it. You want one? There are aftermarket accessories.

Yeah no. Mirrors don’t require glasses due to their very nature. Video does.

I wouldn't buy a car that didn't have mirrors, even if their absence were allowed. Camera + processing + display is too slow compared with light speed reflections and the ever-increasing speeds of traffic. Cameras can provide additional safety, but they shouldn't be primary.

I wanted a solid roof, but that wasn't available with our other requirements, so I would like a retractable sunshade. I get nauseated from the flickering of light on the edges of my vision. I really don't like glass roofs. However, my partner likes them and so something retractable would be great.

I would very much like cornering lights and fog lights.

Primary for me would be to make the HVAC controls physical controls. Since that can't be done for my vehicle, I would like to have control over the placement of the existing screen controls. I would put the HVAC at the top of the screen so I don't have to take my eyes as far off the road to adjust climate controls.

Split screen is badly needed. I still don't understand why I have to switch from carplay and Google maps just to navigate the radio/xm. It should allow you to set radio /navigation as always visible

This is already an option when you turn on unbridled and select unbridled extend mode. You can even fully disable ESC now. I haven't tried it on my gtpe though, don't see a need given I'm not track racing...

Adjustable charging is a huge miss IMO. I thought for sure I had missed something when I couldn't find the options on the app or car. I wanted to use the mobile charger on a dryer outlet with max 30A, meaning I should only allow 24A max but was shocked the car doesn't allow you to. I couldn't charge the car at all given the mobile charger is 32A and would have tripped the breaker...seems like a huge miss. The car should allow you to select the max draw...

I'd love bidirectional charging but if they can't even get something as basic as this down I won't hold my breath for bidirectional. And I'd love faster DC charging as well. 150max is quite low now, New teslas can charge at 300

Agreed. Owned mine for about a year now. Several summer days in over 100 degree heat and most of the time I forget I even have a glass roof.
