You don’t have to push the button for L2 charging.

I believe the thumb latch on j1772 handle has sense wire to shut down the L2 charge..... DCFC contactor relay may (or may not) be sequencing correctly or fast enough to shut down the charge current before opening the contactor.

...just a theory.

DC arcing at 450volts is a serious thing if the current is still flowing.... welding, pitting, heat...

Battery degradation is not the problem. If it degrades too much, you get a new one for free under the 8-year battery warranty.

But I would never buy and never own any EV outside of its factory warranty. The previous EV I had was the most unreliable car I ever owned. At least repairs were covered by warranty. Have you asked yourself what the repair bill would be for a bricked MME?
Indeed, which is why I got the maximum coverage and length Ford extended warranty for mine...

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Unfortunately we hear about a new bricked MME every day and no recall from Ford yet.

Btw, did you DC fast charge recently? I have a hypothesis that connects DC fast charging to the problem. Either DC charging fries some modules or pulling out the cable without properly stopping charging results in some electrical arc. Again just hypothesis.
I had a very similar issue about five weeks ago, although it had nothing to do with any hardware; it came down to resetting the error codes and getting a software update (although my MME already had the 21P22 update). (Stranded in Wisconsin: Mach E road trip fail | MachEforum - Ford Mustang Mach-E Forum, News, Owners, Discussions).

Interestingly, I DID have a brief DCFC session several hours before my car was bricked. It was at a ChargePoint DCFC station where I experienced multiple errors and had to call ChargePoint to have the station reset. It eventually worked (after 3-4 tries and a frustrating session on the phone with one of their technicians); I do wonder whether the issues I had were related to that charging session, although there is no obvious direct correlation.

Ford Corporate gave me a jangle while enroute to the service center and the Official Ford Account on the forum has reached out to me. Looks promising as far as initial communication.

The EV tech at Stevens 112 Ford in Patchogue returns from vacation Monday so since they don't work weekends looks like I'll only have 1 business day idle of inactivity.

Ford corporate also helped me get a loaner car too which was nice.
When this happened to me, I was contacted by a Customer Experience rep (as well as Ford's official account on this forum). Because I was stranded while out of town and I had a business trip the next day, I had to rent a car and get home. Hats off to Ford, as they not only reimbursed me for my rental, but they also paid (at a SIGNIFICANT expense) to have my MME transported 400+ miles on a flatbed tow truck back home, only a day after the dealership resolved the software issue.

Well that's not encouraging.. searched for keyword HVBJB and not enjoying the stories much :-/
This issue is not necessarily hardware-related. Although the HVBJB stories are scary, many of these issues (including mine) were software-related only. Hopefully yours is the same as mine.

Are these HVJB repairs covered under the 8 year battery system warranty if you’re outside the 36k warranty?

*Update*

Called Stevens 112 today and was told EV tech is back but not looking at car today.

Was told no other techs authorized to plug in ODB code reader to start the process of error analysis.

A little disappointed at the lack of any urgency.

Really?!?

You obviously have not dealt with operations that deal with downed systems in a serious manner.

As a pilot, I'm no mechanic, but I have facilitated and expedited the returning to service aircraft through strong communication with maintenance personnel. Regularly pulling codes and send them off for analysis.

God forbid a "non EV" tech pull some codes and email them off to the Ford Corporate EV department. So scary!!!

This type of attitude is unhelpful to improve the quality of service we all should expect for the money we all spend and for the modem day time we live in of rapid inexpensive communication.

The old way of doing things isn't always the best.

Handled well, sprinted off the line strong. Typical well appointed BMW interior.

Nice wide-screen wrap around instrument/ entertainment screen.

Back seats kinda cramped, trunk small, no frunk.

Autox so obviously didn't get to see how the thermal / Power management would be.

Like the GT better, when it works.
