Do we know of any improvements to Sync software coming?

I see threads on here pretty often about software fixes coming to fix hardware issues - i.e adding a button on phone to open the frunk, or an OTA update to increase the charging curve.

I have not seen a thread on the general usability of the Sync system. It’s so laggy at times, slow, clunky, and the voice of the AI is hilariously bad. My wife and I are in love with the Mach-E we bought, but it’s so frustrating having software in a car that honestly feels like it’s still early 2010s.We tested a polestar and the infotainment was incredible, just in comparison to ours.

I never want to give up this car - but do any of us know of some redesign / improvements coming to the software itself?

Clearly the OP, who is complaining about Sync 4A, has never used previous versions. This is light years better. I believe in 2023 the entire OS is changing, which likely will not be adaptable to prior year models.

What version are you on now? Mine is much improved from when I got it. A little better wouldn’t hurt, but it’s not debilitating anymore n

I had Sync 3 in my 2020 Ford Escape. I agree that for most things, it’s much better. That being said, I had less issues in my Escape connecting to my iPhone and when both my wife and I are in the car (both our phones are connected to the vehicle through our profiles) forget about it ever connecting to CarPlay at all.

it’s just frustrating how difficult it is to connect my phone and things - this is a nearly $60k car, you’d think the software would’ve had more upgrades than it did. Not saying it’s not leagues better than previous versions, but let’s not pretend it’s even close to up to par with industry standards.

I can check once I’m off work. I have blue cruise and know I got an update a couple weeks ago as well.

What issues are you having connecting your phone? I connected my iPhone 12 Mini to PaaK and CarPlay the day I got the car over a year ago, and haven't had to mess with it since.

If your car has always had BlueCruise, you have a Job 2 car, which means your Sync version is likely at least a few behind. No Sync updates have been pushed out to Job 2 cars yet.

I do know it was built 12/2021. I actually bought the Route 1 brand new (with blue cruise) off the lot, crazily enough. Paid MSRP as well back in January. I know this because we were hearing a clunk noise when turning the wheels and I found there was a CV joint issue on cars built pre-September. That being said, the sound is gone.

I have seen Job 1 vs. Job 2 on here, but am still a bit unclear on what it means. If the car is a Job 2, hopefully I can expect some updates!

Well you are already ahead than a lof of people since you have BlueCruise
I have only used it a handful of times (live in Virginia) but never really tested it since I’m close to DC and there’s a ton of construction now. I’ve seen it’s pretty decent though!

Job 1 means vehicles built in first half of the model year (roughly). Job 2 is 2nd half, and things traditionally get changed. However, with the Mach-E, Ford is updating the design as they go to save money (already cut $1,000 in costs).

Your Job 2 car is way ahead of Job 1 cars, which don't have BlueCruise yet (except a very few).

Based on my experience with past Sync vehicles, and update once a year is the norm, if that much.

Job 2 cars are ahead with respect to BlueCruise and frunk opening. But their Sync version is actually several versions behind what has been released for Job 1 cars.

What functionality in Sync do they not have that Job 1 vehicles have?

This has been very informative, by the way so thank you!

I will say, I’d trade blue cruise for better / smoother / seamless (can’t find the right word) software!
