It's reported that the Austin based car company has delivered 310,048 EV's so far in 2022, and it's expected that they'll deliver 1,000,000 before the end of the year, now that their Texas factory is open. Ford and GM combined delivered slightly over 7,100 ev's in the first quarter.

Both Tesla and Ford have had to deal with supply chain disruptions, as well as the Ukraine-Russia war disrupting things.

How has Tesla managed to continue to deliver cars in record numbers, while Ford, GM and other car companies seem to not quite have a handle on the situation?

Do you see the Mustang Mach E selling in similar numbers to the Model Y/3 this year? Next year?

Ford hit it out of the park with design, performance, interior... now they need to produce.

What do you think is top priority for Ford to start selling ev's in larger quantities?

Batteries and electronics. Tesla was smart and knew it was needed to get agreements in place for materials and take most things in house. Ford relies on other manufacturers and fab's to make what they need right now. Apples and Oranges.

You probably want to read some threads on here. Ford won't approach Tesla's volume for a long time. And who cares? I don't give a rat's behind what Tesla or Elon Musk do, wouldn't buy a Tesla ever.

If you want instruction, go see what Tesla delivered the first year the Model S hit the streets, 2012 I think. Then, realize Ford has had to close order banks for MME and F150 Lightnings due to demand outstripping supply. Around 200K Lightnings reserved/ordered. Supply woes aren’t permanent. GM about to go apeshit with Ultium models of all shapes and sizes as well, even supplying Honda with a model or two. Yeah.

Also Tesla vertically integrated because it’s kind of easy to do when you’re basically printing money through share valuations that are in no way connected to company profitability, right? Ford and GM had to operate like normal businesses with normal share values all while Tesla was valued up to $1 Trillion + whilst being profitable in like 3 quarters ever in their history.

Why would you only count Ford’s EVs when comparing them to another car company? How does their total number of vehicles sold compare to Tesla?

I get it that you don't care, but car manufacturers are in business to sell cars, and I'd assume they want to sell a LOT of them.

I'm sure Ford is thrilled with your loyalty, but I also would assume they want to bring in new buyers, and figure out how to manufacture cars in large numbers.

Ford was never behind Tesla so why would they need to catch up?

Ford (not including Lincoln) sold over 400,000 vehicles in the US the first quarter of this year. That's just the US versus Tesla's global numbers. Last year Ford's US sales were almost 2 million.

Figure out? There’s nothing to figure out, they’ve been mass producing vehicles for over 100 years now. With even panels gaps and good paint even! Now, they’re scaling up EV production, as @RickMachE stated. You’re about to be seeing 400K annual Ford EVs just between MME and Lightning. More models to follow. Lincoln about to get to market with theirs.

Frankly, hope I don’t see Tesla-like production numbers by the MME anytime soon. Where I live, we’ve heard Teslas referred to as “Palm Springs Priuses”.
I am enjoying being a little exclusive for a while.

Tesla has done a fantastic job of scaling up their operations over ten years of shipping vehicles. As such, they have over a decade of experience over Ford producing EVs and are reaping the rewards of that.

However, build quality of Ford EVs is far superior to Tesla.

Also, much of Tesla's cachet and rabid fan base is surrounding Elon Musk. Much like Apple had Steve Jobs. Were something horrible to happen to Musk, I don't know if he's built an operation that could withstand his loss. I doubt he has anyone there who could take over handily because he probably wouldn't be willing to have someone there who'd rival his power. Seriously.

They kind of remind me of North Korea mentality in the way they refuse to have a PR department or give journalists their vehicles for reviews. I don't know if that's healthy in the long term.

Yeah having your PR department be the memelord CEO on Twitter does not inspire confidence

yes, for perspective, Tesla has ~6 battery suppliers including building them themselves. Ford and GM each have one.
