You know, I wonder how things are going with OP @breadtree . Haven't heard from them in a while.

Challenge accepted!
Someone somewhere is probably figuring odds on the two of you. Any other Texas deliveries want to join their race?

We have the same estimated delivery date.

THIS MEANS WE STILL DON'T KNOW WHICH OF US GETS OUR MME FIRST!!!
Wow, mine was just updated to April 28-May 4. I can’t believe there’s any way mine would arrive before yours seeing it was just shipped yesterday.

Finally got the delay email. Only had 2ish more days in my window.

I guess the car got stuck in KC. Maybe someone at Ford saw that one of our group had a chance to get the car in April before more March builds were shipped, LOL.

Just got my delayed email too...

Just got my shipping notice email this am, but with no update to the ETA (it shipped on 4/18, so no, Ford, an ETA of 4/21 to 4/27 isn't likely!). Still, it makes me more confident that it is finally, truly on its way.
In other news, I attended the New York International Auto Show yesterday and saw lots of Mach-Es, including a few GT non-PEs like mine, so I have now finally seen the interior I'm getting. Gorgeous! {Jonathan}

Add me to the shipped list as of this morning. The Ford website still shows a delivery window of 4/27 - 5/3.

Honestly, I think Ford needs to work on their systems a little. Seems like a timeline is generated and the system just spits out emails based on whatever was developed in 1995. Almost no consideration for delays. I'm sure the interns have having to type up 100s of emails. :p

Is that what he Green Screen Appearance Package looks like ?

Sorry .. dumb jokes are all I've got since my car is someplace in Florida ... no one has an updated delivery date or can tell me where my car is except someplace between Jacksonville and Miami ...

Dealership says it should have been there by Monday ... Ford chat said yesterday ... my delivery dates are still 04/13-04/19 .. guess I'm ford's red headed step child .. not only haven't I gotten a "delayed" email .. I haven't even gotten a "shipped" email either

Last night I've realized I car carriers get my immediate attention .. saw one parked at a gas station .. even tho it wasn't anywhere near where my car should be travelling .. I still scanned it just incase ...

Ok .. This concludes my therapy session.. i will leave my co-pay with the receptionist on the way out .. ?

Wrong.

Ford needs to work on their systems a lot. ;)

Keep in mind that this vehicle is the first "online order" vehicle. Communicating to customers directly is new to Ford, beyond the "hey, here's a certificate for $2,000 off".

So they release a car to shipping, and that night it trips an email to the customer, before the systems realize that the arrival window hasn't been updated, update it, and that generates a new email.

"Thank you for waiting this out for me, Craig. It's not showing a location for the last update which was 4/14/22. The estimated date for arrival at the dealership is listed as 5/14/22 right now, but it can be sooner."

Lmao...so essentially you have no idea where the car is. What type of update is that Ford chat?

Ugh. I need help to figure out what happened to my car. All they know is NU took it and its in transit to somewhere. They don't even know if it's going to KC anymore...

I went down a rabbit hole today...

It turns out that not only are truck drivers not being paid enough to continue driving for these massive shipping corporations, that's true of the railway industry as well. Huge numbers of railway employees have been leaving because of poor pay and working conditions, and few people are agreeing to work under those conditions in the first place.

The railway industry in the US lost about 25,000 employees since the beginning of the pandemic, but the four big railroad companies have been cutting employees since 2016. They're down 60,000 employees (about 35%). In 2016, not only did they start cutting employees, they started drastically cutting compensation and benefits. So, now nobody wants to work for them. It's a story similar to the trucking companies.

That big of a drop has spread to the short line railroads too.

Things are not really looking up either.

It seems like some portion, probably a non-trivial portion, of Ford's (and every other manufacturer's) problem isn't just chips, it's being able to get the parts to the factories and the finished vehicles moved by the shipping companies.

Essentially the same conversation I had with Ford chat and phone. "We know your car made it to KC."

Trying not to be too political here but I think this has been a problem for a long time (and been building up). It sucks.

Today on industries I hope to never work for...
