OTA 1.7.1 Stuck, anyone else have issue updating?

His dealer probably just saw that his Car has the dealer notice that they can install it. It won't work until the 1.7.1 fix is applied though. When a dealer runs the car in their system, it shows any outstanding programs that haven't been applied on this car.

That explains. Yes it is all sequential hence the v1.7.1 has to be fixed first.

I think the TSB works but replacing the APIM is better. My dealer did not bother with the TSM just replaced APIM and he was off to the races with the updates. But then every dealer is different.

The fact that it is a stuck v1.7.1 during OTA is because of the failed APIM updates and cannot go forward which OTA cannot fix. I wonder if this was ever a case with Teslas too or they work differently for updates.

@benk016 sorry if it's a stupid question but are you saying that someone could have BlueCruise installed through 21G01 but never have gotten the 1.7.1 fix? In that case the car will still be stuck?

Or if you have BlueCruise you are for sure out of the stucked rabbit hole?

You cannot get to blue cruise level software if you have an APIM stuck at 1.7.1

Part of the 21G01 instructions has a section that covers if the APIM (Sync Module) won't flash with USB.

13. Select APIM - Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM/SYNC) - software update.
• Run application.
• Follow General Service Bulletin (GSB) 21-7088 - SYNC Programming, USB flash drive method.
• If error message on SYNC display screen or no activity after 10 minutes.
• See TSB 22-2117 - Module Recovery.
• Retry APIM software update with same USB drive.

The TSB 22-2117 (Now superceded by 22-2150) is the recovery procedure if the APIM or TCU is stuck

Also, just as an FYI, I was stuck with a failed OTA to 1.7.1 from Feb 2, 22 and they did do a regular USB update to the APIM and didn't need to do the special process in 22-2117/22-2150.

Hopefully the dealer will unstick my 1.71 while it goes in to probably get the HVJB fixed. Same issue as Mac n Cheese. Being towed as STOP Safely now is on. Thankfully I've been able to push it out of my garage for the tow truck when it arrives. So nice how I get lots of new experiences with this vehicle.

Maybe this is my next round of purgatory! Hopefully not, and dreaming it comes back fully loaded with everything.

This is accurate- they just said they would do the TSB and then proceed to do Bluecruise as well.

I assumed that would be okay to do as dealers can probably manually install OTA updates - is it not?

There's just been a lot of horror stories of dealers not doing them properly. Partly dealers doing it wrong and partially from an issue with Ford's diagnostic software that has been resolved.

However, the fix for the stuck 1.7.1 is a dealer only update. But they don't have to do all the other though unless you want them to.

Update: Been stuck since early November. Took car to dealership Tuesday. They call or text DAILY to give me an update. Today's update was not good. Apparently, there is a firewall at the dealership that is preventing the update from coming through. Ford Corp told the dealership they needed to remove the firewall temporarily but the dealership is not willing to do that.
I may have to take it elsewhere. I don't think Ford will authorize a new APIM(?) since the dealership technically has an option that they are refusing to exercise. Supposed to get the final word tomorrow.

My car awaits 1.7.1 since a couple of days.
It downloaded nearly 2 GB when it was connected with my wireless lan.
Don't know how much it downloaded during driving.

Now it's "stuck" at the point "OTAM_S1006" what means "'Update' to start download".
Is there anything what I could do to initiate the download?

If they're not willing to apply the TSB per instructions, maybe take it elsewhere. If I'm not wrong, the instructions on the TSB require the dealership to disable any firewall or antivirus.

It's frustrating though. The first time I brought my vehicle in, they wasted an entire day because they didn't follow instructions and didn't even have the right cables (even though I made the appointment in person and referenced the TSB and the need for the cables).

The second appointment had hiccups but updates were completely done.

After a total of 9 days over two appointments, I got the call that my MME was done. I picked it up last night. I was able to schedule OTA for every day of the week.
Full-screen maps that stay full screen after a key cycle.

Apple directions upfront.

New apps.

Prompts toggle. Blue Cruise is nowhere to be found on my Ford.com account and I couldn't get it to activate on a short hwy detour lastnight.

Calm screen activation is also working.
Sync now also shows 22034_PRODUCT Revision: 364.

Ford field engineer was out today to look at my vehicle. Determined that a new APIM needs or be ordered - hrm....it's like I read this around page 88 of this forum.

Item is on backorder but they are "emergency ordering" so maybe this week?

As others have said APIM bricks after 15 attempts or 20 days - makes me think that maybe the OTA triggered something to start the lockout or my service team did get to the APIM part sooner than they mentioned to me.

Congrats to those who have been able to get through the roadblocks. Encourage those having issues to get in touch with Ford and demand Field Service to get involved. Will update next week.

Very strange, but my car decided to OTA update to 2.1.0 today after being seemingly irreparably stuck at 1.7.1 forever. I had an appointment with the dealer for tomorrow to try to get the fix, which I have now cancelled. Maybe there is hope for others!

I had a service booked for today. They called to cancel it. I spoke to the technician and he said there isn’t any software for me to update on etis. I told him about the fix with the service number and he said it’s not on his system. So don’t come in. IDOITS!!
