My wife and I have recently come to a decision to purchase a Mach E. We currently have a 2019 Expedition and want to downsize to add an extra car for our son who will be driving in late summer. We only take a few long road trips a year and most driving even in Texas will get us to places in the 220ish mile range the Select RWD model supports.
Now the questions.
Is anyone getting non-ordered Mach Es for MSRP? I will be trading the Expedition in for the Mach E but not sure I can offset $5-10K in an addendum.

As non EV owners should we look out for anything while at the dealership? Software versions or the like since we will be traveling from another city and this will not be our local Ford dealer.

Basically, what should we cover with the dealer before we buy and leave with the car outside of the normal car buying experience?

Thank in advance

If you can find one on a lot that you like for MSRP, buy it. I wouldn't waste time trying to check software versions.
Thanks! We are waiting for the out-the-door price before we make the drive to purchase.
I have a video showing it's on the lot and not spoken for yet.
Fingers crossed since we don't really want to wait until late summer to order one and wait again for an unknown time. For those who ordered and have waited, you are way better than me.

Not sure how far you're willing to drive to get a Mach E, but I would contact every dealership within 100 miles. Now since you're in Texas, that might not be wide enough haha.

Are you dead set on a color? Comfort/Tech package? Because if color or the Tech package is not of particular concern for you, I would jump on any dealer that offers you MSRP.

Just know that in the heat of summer, with the AC cranking you aren't getting that 220 miles. Also, that 220 miles is at an average speed below 60 so if you are going with Texas traffic (never been there but assuming 75+) you also will never see 220 miles no matter the outside temp.

Yes - just buy it and drive it home. I studied the available setting so I knew how I wanted to set it up before I left the lot but not that big of a deal. You can figure out what you want to do when you get back home. Another consideration is do you have a 240V outlet available for charging? You can use 110V but that is slow.

Good luck, let us know all the offers you got. Also figure out your trades value before anything.

I would seriously consider selling your Expedition on your own. You could probably get $10K over what they'll give you on the trade.
Yeah, you could do that, you may need the extra cash for ADM. You could also use your Expedition as a negotiating tool. You are literally creating another sale for the dealer. They would likely rather sell to you at MSRP and take your trade than sell to someone else with ADM. Keep your options open and stay strong. It's a tough market for buyers.

Check all the dealer websites and contact them to get into their system. I lucked out where someone came in and didn’t like they color of the Mach E they ordered 9 months ago and the dealership sold it to me the same day bc they new what I was looking for. Since it was a preorder, they had to sell it at invoice price and couldn’t mark it up.
I honestly talked to about 17 dealerships regularly for 2 months before I lucked out.

I agree, MSRP is a fair price in this market.
Good luck!

Everyone here has given excellent tips.....Now it's matter of how much you want the MME and which model.....Don't just jump on a deal bc it's available and no ADM.

A trade in to the dealership will not give you the most 4 for your current vehicle if you are willing to sell it privately and that takes time unless someone is looking for the exact car you have.....

I was one of the lucky person who ordered last October 2021, Received it 3/31/22, no hiccups whatsoever.....Since then I have added over $10K in upgrades with no regrets bc I must have what I like if the car doesn't come with it.....Just me

Best of luck and keep us updated.....

BTW: If you are a speed demon & power hungry-----the GT/GTPE is the way to go!

That’s what I’m hoping I can do. I’ve made my intentions clear and I’m willing to pull the trade or even walk away and wait even if that means 2023 MY and possible increase in price.

How much impact to range has everyone seen using AC? I knew it would happen but figured less than heat. We live in SW Austin and 75% is city driving under 65. Any place else is 75 minimum so what’s the percent I should account for speed?

If you drive 75 with the AC on, figure 2.5 miles per kWh.
